Well-trodden, well-trodden. On Sunday they were queuing to the top. From both sides.

Was up with the best teamvelik nasmeh. On Sunday. To Krek's hut I'd say nice winter ascent. No problems at all, old, young, kids, dogs, anything goes velik nasmeh To Altemaver another story, personally I like it a lot. No crampons no chance. Not up, not down!!
Despite cold and Siberian wind in spots, day was finger-licking good.

This morning again on Ratitovec. The path is trodden and icy in places, so microspikes are recommended. Otherwise great Christmas day in the hills with nice views. Only the wind was strong, so the camera stayed in the backpack. The hut is open continuously till 2.1.2012.

Today we went to Ratitovec only in the afternoon, really a bit icy in places, on top strong pull. But views beat the wind.

To test new boots I went on a shorter hike, Ratitovec was the choice.
Windy on top, views solid.

How is the path to Altemaver? It tempts me to go up these days. Would like to extend to next peak. What about pastures Pečana and Klom, well trodden? Thanks for reply. Regards

As "Tadeja74" wrote, crampons (any) almost necessary for Altemaver and Gladki vrh too.
Otherwise not much snow, windblown too, so no problems reaching those pastures.

Today too icy right after hut. Small four-point crampons sufficed for safe ascent to Altemaver.

Today we went up via Poden and down via Razor. Crampons are highly recommended for the descent back. Snow is about 40cm in some places, elsewhere blown to the base.

Who knows how much snow fell on Ratitovec today and what the conditions are like? The paths must be all trodden down, since there are quite a few daily visitors to Ratitovec. Tomorrow we'll march up, maybe to Altemaver too. We shall see.

The path to Ratitovec is surely trodden, as there's no day in the year when no one goes to the top. Not much new snow has fallen I think. Weather will be great too, so enjoy.

Some via Soriška planina, some to Razor, and others every day upeek, I'm marching it alone unfortunately, via Povden up, after a long time. And it's actually pretty nice. Already at Prtovč wind shows its teeth, quite strong and cold gustsmrk pogled. Some snow sections, sometimes ice too, already before Povden, but easy to cross. Path is really well trodden, so boldly stepping forward. When I reach the saddle, strong wind starts again. At the hut I notice I'm alone. Of course I go to the nearby summit. Wind is very strong, winter gear necessary. Summit is great spot to photo our daddy, surrounding hills and rest of Julijci and Ksa. Get the stamp, then back to hut, to shelter. From there watch beautiful sunsetnasmehmežikanje. Which lasts and lasts. It's 17h, so slowly march down. Thought I'd be last today, but mistaken. Meet three ski tourers, and one friendly gentleman. Says he goes to Ratitovec ca.300xeek, there are 9 such enthusiasts. I think two who do the ascent every day. In all conditions.
Anyway, afternoon well spent again. Tomorrow again to Blegošnasmeh.

Obsession you can call it, that's how it is, because they have a logbook up there (like many other places, we're logged between Kljuke, but we make it just to the diploma for 10 visits, and even that's not really worth it for us). I know a lady who even on summer vacation combined sea so that she was up there every day. Once in the evening, slept home, hiked up in the morning and back to sea, repeat...
Anyway, Katty, if you ever need company, just say, I'm at work otherwise, but sometimes I can go home earlier (on account of overtime, which I regularly do).
