Matic....what a nice photo Marjan took of you two....we were the only four trudging towards Altemaver nasmeh

From Prtovča over Razor to Ratitovec and further to Aletmaver. Path snowy, but well trodden. From Ratitovec towards Altemaver on the official path snowdrifts, so it was better to walk along the ridge. Winter idyll, sunny weather, beautiful views....what more can one wish for nasmeh

. We returned via Vrata. The snow was already crusty, sinking to the knees in places, especially through the forest, since only a couple of hikers turned that way ahead of us. From Vrata to the starting point already a slide, so small crampons weren't amiss.

Every spring I head to Ratitovec from Soriška planina. The path is pleasant, solitary and not too steep. Only in the last part before stepping onto the vast pastures of Ratitovec does the path climb steeply. In the middle of the forest blooming meadows hide. Since I didn't want to harm the flowers, I had to watch where I stepped. One forest part seems particularly scary to me, all that thicket around fills me with anxiety. They say where you might meet a bear it's good to talk loudly. Since I was alone I even sang a bit to scare off possible furry one. If it happened to be nearby and heard my "botching", the poor animal probably bolted and won't come back soon velik nasmeh

I really didn't meet a bear but noticed its tracks near Kremanta.
When I get out of the forest great views open to me. I continue on the scenic pasture of Ratitovec past Kremanta and Altemaverja to the hut on Ratitovec.
Due to the visit of young hikers it was quite lively around the hut. Also some other hikers were there, company wasn't lacking mežikanje

I return the same path back. Nice hot day it was nasmeh

when I cross the last steep slope wonderful views open up

Yesterday I went from Podkorit to Ratitovec. Path to Bitenjska planina not marked and somewhat overgrown in places. From Bitenjska planina to Gladki vrh I followed marked path which is passable without special features. I returned the same way, then on the way also visited Grmečica waterfall.

Hi Tadej!
I thought I knew Ratitovec but see I don't as this path is totally unknown to me. Which end is that in terms of sky side?

The starting point is by the Sava Bohinjka, near the village Nomenj.

Ratitovec is a visited mountain, but if at Razor instead of turning left you turn right, you're already alone. First to Kosamti vrh, then to Gladki vrh, and over Povden dol. For lovers of marmots and pogačice. Well, and flancati too.

Yes, Ratitovec is also my favorite mountain and I always climb it with great pleasure. Nice pictures LidijaJesih, the cow would surely tell you that she's happy to be outside again. nasmeh

We used today for a visit to Ratitovec and to enjoy a bit longer in its embrace, we started at Soriška planina. Real mountain joy begins with arrival at vast grassy meadows with numerous flowers and beautiful views of nearby and distant hills. Along the path a herd of horses greeted us, a lost sheep with lamb and lots of cows with calves. In the hut well-deserved flancati and drink. nasmeh

For the stated time we must sharpen our heels well

Fragrant wild strawberries were plentiful too

Since we planned to go to the Jezersko side but the road was apparently closed, we headed to Ratitovec, which I always climb with pleasure. Morning was pleasantly cool, on top a bit of south wind blew, temperature midday pleasant 17 degrees. Up via Povden, back via Razor to Prtovča.

But the flowers are blooming despite the drought.

I don't know if these are ptarmigans too.

On Friday evening we head to Krekova hut to overnight and early morning already descend to Prtovča where we had the car and drove to Podbrdo. Up via Povden, down in the morning via Razor. You can see Ratitovec has great attendance as despite late hour on Friday we met quite a few hikers and also Saturday early morning still in the dark it was already full of hikers.

From Prtovča we went up over Povden saddle. From the tracks in the snow we saw that two or three pairs of feet had already walked this path ahead of us. In the forest everything was nicely snow-covered, a real little winter fairy tale. On top a bit windy, some people who mostly came up via Razor, someone trampled the trail also from Zalega log. Down via Razor the trail was already quite trodden, somewhat slippery in places. In the forest snow up to about 20 cm, on top mostly blown off, but all very nice with beautiful views.

Today on Ratitovec thick fog and strong wind, little snow along the path and no obstacle. Nice greeting (boletes are still growing)

After one day of agony and fight with stomach virus, I get back to myself in two days. Yesterday to Osolnik, just for the sun, today Ratitovec. A bit weak, but slowly going. Unbelievable what a tiny virus does to you. Views clearly fantastic all around, a bit windy on top, but day without headache - I feel like a king!! regards nasmeh

Even shorter hikes are quite pleasant when lacking time due to obligations, so one can enjoy fresh air and the beauty of mountains. With MartinoP we managed to jump to Ratitovec for the weekend and make some nice shots.

With Irena we headed to Ratitovec yesterday from the end of Dašnica. The day was real winter. Snowing all the time, on top also windy and snow drifted into cornices. LP
