Hello!
One day I'm going to Ratitovec for the first time and I have some questions. First, I'm interested in the geographically closest starting point by mileage if coming from Celje, so I don't have to drive too far by car. Secondly, is the Ratitovec circular trail or neighboring peaks from the top from Krekova hut onwards well marked, because I want to hike a bit also run all surrounding peaks around Krekova hut, but I realize I'll have to go from hut to hill and back repeating until enough for that day?

Via AC to LJ, then past Škofja Loka towards Železniki. Just after Železniki turn right towards village Prtovč. Parking there. To hut two paths over Povden and over Razor. I prefer first.
From top go left along ridge to Soriska planina. A bit after Altenmaver choose left path to Zg.Danje. Here go left again on road back to Poden or Prtovč. Nice circular tour.

Barentoter, is this circular path marked? And time-wise how long is it and which peaks does it cover, because I need stamps for the Ratitovec circuit because I have the booklet.?

Another variant: first over Razor climb to 11-Kosmati vrh, descend to planina 10-Klom, through gate descend to 9-Pečano and climb past hut to 12-Gladki vrh and descend back to hut. Continue over 8-Altemaver and 7-Kremant to 6-Kačjega roba. Here you can descend to Danje as Barentoter suggests. I would rather return by the same path (scenic ridge) to hut and over Povden back to Prtovč. These paths are marked.
Peaks around Soriska planina another time or think about 2 days.

All paths are marked and also sufficiently visited so you can ask someone for the path. If I'm not mistaken I needed about 6h. Don't hold me to my word, because it was a very long time ago

aditaker, when do you have this planned?
I've done the circuit many times, many times in two rounds (Soriska planina in one, the rest in the other round), twice in one round, first time solo, all together in good 4 hours starting from Soriska planina (return from Ratitovec to Soriska was an addition), second time as a trio an extended variant from Železniki over Kosmati vrh to Baško sedlo and back over Ratitovec to Železniki (so we covered all points, it came to around 50 km).

Morning circular hike from Prtovč to Ratitovec, Razor up, Poden down. Temperature at hut at 7:30 15°C...
Conditions (weather) for now still ideal and it looks like it will hold in the morning.

Today afternoon classic circular tour to Ratitovec, namely over Poden up and through Razor back. Weather gorgeous, warm (hot) and full of visitors.
I would like to warn about the path over Razor. There recently they have considerably extended and widened the new forest road - logging trail (same applies to area around planina Klom), so now the road comes quite high under Razor. At two places you need to pay attention to turn left onto the marked path, instead of continuing on the road.
Hut is open on weekends and holidays.

Today over planina Klom to hut and return over Pečano and Klom. Path nice, dry and with wonderful views. Only on top as almost always windy.

Well, it's nice that you survived the encounter with the dog. Did you maybe pick up some allergy just passing by? Maybe some problem will show up later. I wish it passes for you.

Ratitovec has many approaches from different directions, I prefer those less "god-given", where I meet only few other hikers. So yesterday again in beautiful sunny weather I went from Spodnjih Danj through Zgornje Danje to Zabrda, then I checked once more the condition of the unmarked hunting path from Zabrda to Ratitovec.
Of course it's nice, very steep in one part, only in places you need to be very careful due to thick leafy carpet: you don't see what's below and if you slip, you hardly stop... more + some pics at:

Only on Saturday (so it says on the sign), due to maintenance works. Looks like they'll patch some hole now, when most power line works are finished.

Today again classic circular tour to Ratitovec, plus to Altemaver and Gladki vrh. Weather fantastic, summer temps, cracklings finger-licking. As for visit, Ratitovec had real stampede today. Crazy, at Prtovču parked everywhere possible Still nice morning spent.

Today really fantastic day on besieged Ratitovec. When sweetening tea with flancat, clear to me why later such long queue for their goodies. Such queues in hills I haven't seen yet!
