Yesterday I did a loop under Ratitovec, didn't quite make it to the top. Starting point Železniki, over Kres and over Novakov grič to Jesenovec. When I reached the gravel road from Prtovč towards Jelovica (Klom), I went left on it to Prtovč, then on the trail to Jesenovec and Draboslovica...decided for the latter and descended back to Železniki on it. Parking at Prtovč full, even four buses, everyone wants to make the most of the nice autumn days. Would warn for caution if anyone else goes for the trail I descended (Draboslovica), right now in some parts due to loads of leaves it can even be dangerous: can't see what's below, plus risk of slipping! My write-up + some pics of yesterday's 17 km rambling: http://vencelj-sportnik.blogspot.si/2017/10/igrackanje-s-tekaskopohodniskimi.html

Ratitovec is the entire ridge and includes several peaks (Gladki vrh, Kosmati vrh, Altemaver, Kremant). From your description it seems you visited Gladki vrh (above hut) and continued to Razor then to Kosmati vrh Otherwise nice tour.

Today at summit windy and foggy. Up and down over Razor. On path dry powder, on return caution needed due to surface.

Has anyone been to Ratitovec recently (from Prtovč start)? Interested in those sections where description says "steep grassy slopes (in snow great risk of slipping and avalanche)" - is this description a bit exaggerated or really that dangerous now?

The path from Prtovč over Razor is used daily.. so if it's not exactly danger level 4 or 5 then just go on the path. The path over Povden (you probably read that) is a bit more difficult in snow and more exposed to avalanches..

In winter over Povden from Prtovč I haven't gone yet, curious if anyone has info on current conditions on that path? Or better "safely" over Razor?

What's the road up there like?

Not quite clear. But can get up without problem. Without winter tires probably not.

Yesterday (28.02.18) I went on skis from Dašnica, where thermometer showed -16 degrees. First on the forest road, then past farmer Kavčič and on through meadows above Podlonko to the edge of the forest and then further on the logging trail to the transverse path Prtovč - Jesenovec. Just before the path I met two tourers and from there we continued together. The path to Jesenovec is at least 200 meters buried in debris, with thawing it'll be fun there. From Jesenovec we went on along the track to the remote and snow-covered pasture Klom (avalanche probe measured snow depth there 210 cm), then to Vratca and Gladki vrh. From the top ski straight down back to Vratca then again with dog team to Kosmati vrh, from where we took about 700m of finest forest powder roughly along the ascent path. From Podlonko I continued alone back to Dašnica. In the narrow forest road last 600m only approximations of plow turns were feasible. In the lower part snow was covered with initially a few cm fresh layer, which increased with altitude to about 30 cm fresh on base (on the summit quite windblown). On descent from Gladki vrh snow was first wind-packed, in forest area fresh, fluffy and nice to ski. Exactly like that on slopes of Kosmati vrh (both ascent and descent) and on to meadows above Podlonko. On meadows below 1000m we looked for dry snow more on shaded right side, on sunny parts old crust annoyingly broke through under new snow here and there. Total about 1260m ascent and same descent. But I can say it was probably the best ski tour descent of the season. Wonderful scenery with fresh snow decorated trees and sparkling crystals forming in severe cold and glistening under clear sky excited us endlessly. With companions we stopped like children all the time and, I'd say, mouths open, gawked around and tried to soak up as much as possible of the endless beauty of that day.
