Today I was up there. In the morning the road to Prtovč was icy in some parts, otherwise clear. Towards the top about ten cm of new snow. Path trodden. Small crampons recommended!

How about the path over Povdn? I'd like to do a loop over Povdn to Ratitovec and back over Razor.

The path is normally passable. Still take small crampons with you, just in case!

As JOŽE wrote, crampons are recommended, at least small ones, which can also be obtained at Krek's hut. Today there was quite a nice turnout at Ratitovec and all who were up didn't regret it because the views were really wonderful today.

Today I also wandered on Ratitovec. From Prtovč along the path over Razor, first muddy then soon to snow, which was crusty and trodden. From Krnica Razor also one part a bit icy. On top windy for a while then wind stopped and we warmed long in the sun behind the hut, more springlike than winter. Also up to Altemaver. Back over Povden, snow crusty and normally passable.

Yes, I also went to Ratitovec yesterday. Up over Povdn. Path well passable, forest soft snow, higher sometimes firmer but dangers avoidable. Icy ridge under hut. Return over Razor good choice as large part of path can be slid. Many hikers, also young and families with small kids. Very praiseworthy. Safe all!

Today again - Krek hut, over Razor to Gladki vrh, from top past mine and saddle Vratca to Kosmati vrh and planina Klom, back to Prtovč.
Krek hut had huge crowd, as yesterday too, I enjoyed alone on Kosmati vrh.

Today with two sons on extremely windy summit. Around us ice, below sea of fog from which Šmarna gora and Grmada peeked. Views on Julijce, Karavanke and Kamniške phenomenal.
Hut staff extremely friendly!
On return to Prtovč sea of tin.

On nice Sunday we visited Ratitovec. Started in Prtovčah. Path very nicely trodden (some places quite slippery--crampons recommended). Top very windy. Very nice views, beautiful sunny day, many mountaineers. Nice greeting

To not always walk the same path, going today from Zali Log. Path description already given at this address;

Good walking conditions, although quite a lot of leaves on the path in lower part. Little wind on top, view also not much. But this path much less visited than from Prtovč (elevation difference). From Po(v)dna onwards small crampons recommended, mainly on descent.

On Sunday very nice, lots of hikers, paths normally passable.
Did the last part of Ratitovec circuit: from Gladki to Kosmati vrh, to planina Klom and planina Pečana and back to hut. No peculiarities...

This Saturday my colleague and I at last moment decided to finally go to mountain (high mountain plans fell through during week due to weather). Chose shorter, lower tour and decision fell on Ratitovec via path from Zali Log (Path description). No major peculiarities on path but ground in shady spots nicely frozen, on afternoon descent unpleasantly slippery in places due to wet snow on ice and lower also muddy leafy ground.

Path section from Žagarjev hlev to road was untrodden and we enjoyed untouched winter fairy tale (recommend gaiters, for stabler step above 1100m also mini crampons). Sky opened only above 1350m and path worth longer drive from Dolenjska ends. In hut boss confirmed hut open every weekend regardless weather. Nice but less popular path (given surprising crowd at hut). Recommend.

Fog in the Ratitovec valley and all the highland bathed in beautiful sunshine. Very pleasant day for a nice hike in the mid-mountains and enjoying the beautiful view of our peaks from Soriska planina to Krvavec, only Porezen and Blegoš peeked out of the fog.

Oh, yesterday despite bad weather forecast, Ratitovec about halfway up the path from Prtovč to the summit showed its beauties in the sun... Climbed to the mountain via Po(v)den, through fog into a beautiful day. Path was icy in some spots in the morning; back via Razor, where still quite some snow but nicely trodden. Best, Minca

Path via Povdn was yesterday a very good choice. But up there it was blowing fiercely. We survived that too. Otherwise phenomenal views.nasmeh
