Skiing is possible from the saddle to Prižnica, if you're early enough. Today I descended at 10, when it wasn't yet too soft. Walkers also occasionally go down there, so the snow in the lower part is already quite punched through.

Start at Podnarje at six in the morning. Snow is soft from the start, so on less steep with snowshoes, on steep without. Very little snow left, so descent from the top is not possible. Started from the saddle where you drop into the cirque in skins. For board snow is excellent, only slow is it ...
From cirque ascent back to Belščica and descent to Poden.

Some impressions in the video.

Yesterday (9.5.2013) visited Stol. Started at Valvasor hut and at junction continued on Žirovnica path. As mentioned in previous comments snow starts at Prižnica, but very little - path practically dry, passable without problems with summer gear, cross only few snow patches.

No views from top, just before car it also rained on me a bit. nasmeh

In the morning Stol was covered in snow. On Žirovnica path wind helped ascent all the way to the hut. Immediately after descent to saddle between Stols, clouds disperse and wind calms nasmeh. At top coffee and of course magnificent view. Direction to Potoški Stol and Vajnež looks completely dry, already inviting visit. Follows descent on Zabreška path. Here need to cross two larger snow patches at two places, which are really very dangerous for slipping. Strongly advise against this path at least another week.

Today it was blowing pretty hard the whole way. First I headed up the Žirovnica path to Potoški Stol, then back to Stol. At the top it's whipping like crazy. Signed the book and quickly to snack in the lee of Prešeren hut. Of course the ravens joined me too. Conditions unchanged since Monday, just the wind strengthened nasmeh

I agree with Kokta. Today on Stol from the forest exit - via Žirovnica path - it was blowing nicely too, especially at the top. But it was a real pleasure to ascend this peak. This year I'm a bit behind, so this was my first two-thousander. Recommend return the same way to avoid crossing snowy areas.

Yes zvone1, on Monday I returned via the Zabreška path and almost the same happened to me as to you on Snežnik. So the Žirovniška is "safe".

Today my girlfriend and I visited Stol via Žirovnica path. Start this morning from Valvasor hut, then up Žirovnica path past Prižnica to the top. On entering the scrub fog or cloud started, persisting with brief glimpses all the way to the top, where it stayed until our return to the valley. From Prešeren hut to the top strong wind was blowing, Stol was quite visited this morning, though some turned back due to wind and fog. Towards the top there are some snow patches to cross, but no problems. Despite foggy top we had a nice day in the mountains, praise to Valvasor hut staff.

Unlike previous days we had no views today. Still clear around 9, but on top unfortunately fog, wind, cold, in short real winter conditions mrk pogled. New snow non-disturbing, on the contrary, almost no sinking, on top about 10cm fresh. On top as said real winter, I jump to the hut too, then back to saddle and down snowfield to where the path to Prešeren branches. To Prižnica I didn't dare on snowfield, don't know how far the snow goes, from afar looks doable but..mežikanje

My buddy and I also tried towards Stol today but via the climbing path. 100 meters from the top we preferred (too icy and very strong wind + fog) to turn back and went down the scree to the starting point. When we were already at the car we jumped to Železna Kapla and climbed the via ferrata to Božičkov vrh. There was sun and crowds nasmeh

"klemen125" interesting that you turned back, since via climbing path (at 10) one Austrian reached the top, dressed in jeans and short-sleeved t-shirt velik nasmeh, couldn't see his shoes due to thick fog. When I asked if he maybe mixed up the seasons he said he just quickened his pace and isn't cold at all jezik. He descended towards Celovec hut mežikanje

Alone I went through Kožne and likewise turned at ca 1700 due to fog. No views anyway. Back via Doslovška and Zabreška alpine pasture, and Valvasor, over Koroška Bela to Jesenice.

Yesterday then to Stol via climbing path. Path is almost entirely dry, in upper part one snow patch, but can bypass it by sliding through narrow notch, though a bit awkward. But after this weather the narrow notch will soon be big enough no problem. Otherwise can recommend the path to those wanting challenging rock tour in current conditions. Also yesterday was great day and sorry for those at work mežikanje
Descent via Belščica is quite nasty, lots of scree, also steep, need caution. Also road to Medvedja dol is in pretty bad shape. Carefully and it'll go (well maybe not with Ferrari but leave that mežikanje )
Let me attach two pics from that snow patch crossing, know that's what interests you most...

Hi!
Has anyone gone by bike to Valvasor hut-from Žirovnica? How many km & how steep? How angry do they get if you lock bike there to some fencezavijanje

Hi,
the road is good, all the biggest
slopes are asphalted, the path is a good 5 km long, on wikipedia it says from Žirovnica via
Završnica is 8 km. Regarding locking to the fence
hard to say anything, everywhere there are weirdos, the gate over the pasture is chained..........Now is not the right time, choose the ascent after the rain by

Hello urskas. Here I just went to check the app on my phone, Sports Tracker, to tell you firsthand how the path goes.

I went on 4.5 this year from Bled by bike to Valvasor Hut.

As I see, my speed dropped sharply at 13.5 km from Bled, so the ascent starts there somewhere, as I went past Žirovnica to Most and then via Završnica to the hut. In the end, 20.90 km. So about 8 km of uphill cycling as enigma said above. Regarding the asphalt steep parts, they are only at the start, then you go through the forest where cars drive but there were none then because there was still snow on Stol. That forest path is about 5 km out of the total 8 km and there is no asphalt. I needed from Žirovnica about one hour and a bit but I'm not some super trained cyclist and I believe some can do it in a good half hour or 40-45 minutes but don't worry about it. I also spared myself a bit as I had mountaineering shoes in my backpack and continued directly up to Stol... it tempted me but probably I won't go again as it was an honest effort but somehow it went despite a lot of snow on top.

When I arrived at Valvasor Hut, I asked the gentleman working inside if I could leave the bike somewhere safe and he unlocked a big room in the ground floor and I left the bike, helmet etc. there...

In short, if it tempts you, it's worth it, it's nice, but better during the week because on the weekend I believe tons of cars go on the path at this time.

Hope it goes well for you.

Regards
