Today on Stol from Završnica, though you can drive to the junction for Ajdna. New snow a couple cm, and mostly blown away. On top quite windy and pretty cold. Regards

Me too today on Stol from Završnica. Somewhere below Valvazorjevo ice starts on the path, so I tested well the new gear - Verige Lesce crampons. To Prižnica they worked great (and down from Prižnica), there I turned left into gully and put on 12-pointers of course. Where gully turns right, I went straight to ridge and then ridge to Stol summit (gully too steep for my taste). Surprisingly no wind on Stol top. On descent legs a bit wobbly. Avalanche memories from last week still fresh ...

Yesterday did the first tour of the year to Stol. It was super, weather wonderful, company fantastic, wind only blew us a bit on descent .

Yes, why not by car to Valvasorjeva if there's a road? Is it better to walk on the road while others drive by? Be a bit more patient. Let whoever wants to go to Valvasorjeva go, whoever wants from Ljubljana on foot, let them go

I agree, let's be patient with everyone.
When the next "hiker" who drove with his stinky diesel into pristine nature as high as possible nags and asks what the hell I'm doing with a bike on hiking trail...I'll remind him to be patient 
But that's topic for elsewhere and another time...
In short, let's be patient.

Wait a minute... If there's a ROAD there, then it can't be pristine nature, right? And I really don't know what's the problem with using existing roads... About new construction we could discuss, but about those already there, I really don't know...
And on the topic: usually in winter by car up there it's quite icy lottery. How it is now, someone else will say.

Nice weather, gotta go somewhere. Stol. Parked in the valley, to Valvasor without gaiters, some snow in between. Hutkeeper told me they tried to reach the summit yesterday but failed, only got to Prižnica. Thanks for trampling it. Snow wet, rotten. From Prižnica onwards completely different. Snow hard, put on crampons. To the top no problems. Some skiers at the top who quickly skied down to the valley. I also use good conditions for descent to Prižnica. From there onwards sinking quite deep, caution needed.

Yesterday we were on Stol... started at Valvasor hut, to which you can drive by car. Path at first dry, soon patches of snow appear, but no problems because soft. Winter gear, crampons and ice axe not needed, winter clothes essential. Weather didn't favor views, only lots of fog, wind and rain. Experienced real winter day at top, but we liked it a lot anyway. On return to hut, keeper Aleš and team nicely surprised us with refreshments... food is excellent... and everything else too, we'll gladly return...

Congrats Ajda, it got stripped a lot in three days... otherwise on Saturday due to fog we couldn't see a few meters ahead but it was white everywhere (I don't even know the height approximately) A bit of view though, visibility reached into the Kamnik Alps strongly in the morning
