Today to Stol via Žirovnica path and along the ridge to Prešeren hut. There I spot Tulipan descending from Stol. He also photographed me marching to the topvelik nasmeh. At Prešeren in sunny idyll we meet and have a nice chat. Then I hop to the top, where the Austrian already descends. They climb straight over the north wall via climbing route without crampons. Now snow just enough that crampons are more hindrance than help. Just need good feel under feet and careful steps, as rock especially in the morning is icy, mountain sand packed like concrete. Descend to gully between saddle on path Potoški stol-Belščica-Medji Dol. At Vajnež mountain buddy from Stol joins me and together we traverse long Belščica route almost to Hrašenska pl.. Then over grassy slopes past always awful bivouac, read Z category towards Valvazor. Today on Stol wind gusting 45km/h, page accessible at
http://www.natural-hazards.eu/hochstuhl.html
In coming days warmer in mountains, above 2100m where now 5-8cm snow, it will melt, freeze at night, so more ice and walking not as safe as today. Regardsnasmeh

Today conditions on Stol were top-notch. Just right temperature, wind was plenty though. Up the climbing route, down past Celovška hut. Very nice autumn tour! nasmeh

With really nice weather, I also visited Stol this morning and, just like bumslpepe a week ago, slightly missed the sunrise (need to leave home a bit earlier). Otherwise on the summit itself pretty cold wind so I quickly pass by the hut back to the valley, where I meet quite a lot of hikers, meaning Stol had lots of visitors today.nasmehnasmeh

Already a few days ago we decided to visit Stol. Although the road was quite demanding, we overcame it anyway. We soon found out it'd be windy on top; a warm hat and gloves were very useful! At Valvazorjeva hut, we enjoyed not just one but each two hot teas. The day was really pleasant, and with the worsening weather we won't visit it again this year. See you next spring. Lp

Today very early on Stol. Fog cleared somewhere at 1400m a.s.l., but next foggy layer started at ca. 1800m a.s.l. In the gully still quite some snow (with short breaks), which I used for both ascent and descent. It's pretty hard, icy in places, so I used six-spike crampons. Last few dozen meters to foggy summit quite windy, I got properly dizzy on top while changing.

Despite all, nice tour.

Yesterday on Stol, about half meter of snow, dry, quite wind-blown on top so walking much easier. Almost no wind, which is quite unusual for Stol. Like yesterday, today probably already completely different conditionsnasmehnasmeh

Yesterday weather as ordered. Path well trodden, except a bit below the top it's drifted,
but no problem since not much snow or it's blown away. We "komot" reached the top with those small crampons. In short WONDERFUL.

Conditions today were excellent. Not much snow, path trodden, crampons used just for practice. Summit windblown, not really ideal for skiing either, only one had skis. Road to Valvazorjevo icy, so up on foot from the bottom. Really nice pre-Christmas winter tour, more like a spring one, in excellent company. At the end some cozying up in Valvazorjevo and down to the valley with the last rays.
Morning fog, but from Valvazorja white views were already offered1
