I was on Stol on Thursday, nothing special, just below the summit ca. 30m snow on the path, but nicely passable.

From the valley, parking at Poljana past Valvasor then via Žirovniška to the top. I descended via Zabreška, sunnier and completely dry.

Late afternoon start from Valvasor Hut to Stol, this time ascent by strength and fitness and took 1.10 hours to the summit. Just before exiting the bushes, surprised by approaching helicopter and mountain rescuers crouched behind bushes. One of them waved to me immediately because I was at the problematic spot, I jumped behind the edge and continued under the edge. Otherwise, sunsets are the most beautiful thing in the mountains for me.

Today ascent to Stol from Završniško jezero via Žirovniška trail and descent via Zabreška trail. Trail completely dry, only just below summit small patch of frozen snow that could be bypassed. A bit more snow only in gully between Mali and Veliki Stol, but can get around there too if someone prefers to bypass Prešeren hut (closed anyway) and go directly to saddle between Stoli. Trail otherwise well marked and passable. No issues.
But gotta complain about the pigsty around bench at Prižnica. Ground full of some cleaning rags that apparently aren't biodegradable. How can someone be such a PRIMITIVE to think of that? Throw garbage on floor at home too?? Probably not. If something is really so dirty that it can't be put straight into a side pocket of the backpack, there is always some bag where the mess can be put and later thrown where it belongs. IN THE TRASH CAN!!!!
Otherwise crowd on top like at market. Beautiful day and obviously many decided to log this ascent for the year. One more snapshot from Žirovnica pasture.

Stol 4.1.2017 from Završnica. Trail slightly sprinkled with snow here and there, just for decoration. Plenty of sun all the time, wind on top, great views around.

Žirovnica trail has track. Big group and three couples went after me so track well packed.
Snow about 40 cm. Sometimes up to waist
Safe and happy.
