Road to Valvasor is a sledding slope.

If the road is for sledding have they at least lowered the barrier?

On Sunday 22.1.17 we led a club tour to Stol from Završnica. Up to Valvasorjev dom it's quite icy, and also from the hut onwards in the forest quite icy in the track. The track is good, so with good boots gaiters aren't necessarily needed. Towards the top it's almost bare in places, the summit itself partially snowy.

Definitely need at least chains against iciness, but it's not bad to have real crampons in the backpack just in case.

Happy trails, Muša

With car you can't get to Valvasor anyway, the road isn't safe... Don't let the raised barrier fool you! Better to park at the lake... I started a bit before 4.00 from Završnica, so I was at Stol summit before sunrise,... Recommend at least basic crampons. Track is really good but quite icy, so careful at least up to the bench... Sunrise view priceless! Good luck! zadrega

On the path it was quite icy today 29.1., I recommend at least microspikes and poles, even to Valvasorjev dom.

To Stol via central gully and skiing down the wide couloir. Can drive to upper parking lot by car. Possible to ski to the car. Short crumbly step in the gully.

Conditions on 28.3.
Yesterday after work I popped up to Stol. Road to Valvazor well maintained, normally drivable. Path to Priznica practically dry, further snowy but snow transformed and afternoon foehn, so crampons stayed in backpack. As much as the ascent was tough due to thaw, the descent down western gully was pure song, almost directly practically to Priznica. Except helicopter hum (and it also stopped after 15h) pure idyll. I recommend nasmeh

On Sunday nothing special, a bit above Prižnica icy surfaces start, which do not pose any problems. Snow was softened in the forenoon, if the morning is cold probably frozen... crampons in backpack.. our winter gear stayed there mežikanje
