Monday 15.4. Stol was heavily visited, mostly young people from AU via climbing path. Apparently no snow anywhere. Unfortunately there were no views due to the fog that persisted. The hut has been open continuously since the weekend, the young hutkeeper and her assistant are very friendly and pleasantnasmeh

Ljubelj - Zelenica - Svačica - Stol - Zagon - Smokuška planina - Zelenica - Ljubelj

A hot day required slow movement and accordingly more time for the nice circular route in the Karawanks.
In the morning we hiked to the SW ridge of Vrtača in the shade, then the sun had its hot dance. Definitely a route worth repeating. More at: http://www.gore-ljudje.net/novosti/134806/

For the weekend they warned of thunderstorms, so we headed to Stol on Monday. That was a good decision. There were quite a few hikers, the paths were in good condition. Only in the morning was "Žirovniška" quite slippery due to night rain. Since the weather was nice, we chose a longer circular route.
We started the hike at Valvazorjevo and up Žirovniška path to the top of Stol, then to Prešeren hut. After a short break we continued to Potoški Stol, then to Vajnež and along the ridge of Belščice to Mali vrh, then descent towards the bivouac on Belščica and via Urbas and Potoška planina back to Valvazorjevo.

In the framework of the mountaineering camp for elementary school youth and high school PD Škofja Loka from 25.-28.06.2017, which took place at Valvazorjev dom, we conquered Stol on 26.07.2017. Five guides safely brought 29 children to Stol. Up via Žirovska path, down via Zabreška.

On Sunday up Žirovniška and down Zabreška. Road to the hut OK, footpaths too. Since we started just before six and were fast, we did the tour in nice weather. Pleasant trip nasmeh

Yesterday from Završnica past Valvazorjevo to Stol in fairly nice morning, then clouds started piling up and towards the top of Prešeren hut some raindrops fell. I thought no one-way ticket this time, but the rain stopped and between clouds one could fly into the valley. Continued with rowing on Bohinj Lake, afternoon also foot ascent to Vogel and late afternoon flight over the lake.nasmeh

How comparable is the climbing route on Stol to Hanz's on Mt. Mojstrovka?

Enka, no big difference. Starts are similar (straight up), but Hanz's is a bit more airy.

drofebo1, thanks! I tackled it a bit easier this morningjezik. To me it seemed a bit harder than MM, more vertical sections, and quite a lot of scree on unsecured parts and rock is worse. But really well protected, everywhere needed. Just here and there it's noticeable it's graded for mennasmeh. Descent to Celovška hut really really annoying like few others.

Hi, does anyone have info on the condition (snow?) of the traverse from Stol to Potoški Stol?

What does it look like from below?
