Greetings!
We're talking about Stol - what are the conditions or, specifically, a question for someone who was on Stol one of the previous days; I'm interested if the path from Valvasor Hut to Prešeren Hut/Stol is trodden, and if crampons are needed and how long, e.g., this tour is in current conditions?

On Sunday I was on Stol. Road to Valvazor drivable most part, need to park 10 min walk from hut. Weather wonderful, snow excellent, view for gods. Mandatory winter gear, snow tomorrow quite hard...

I was also on Stol on Sunday. A bit (over)tired from previous day so didn't feel like getting up early. So started from Završnica only at eleven. Then ran to Valvazor (32 min). Further on backpack weight (winter gear) and even worse impossible snow for running stopped me. Of course, was very late and snow very soft and wet. At Prižnica turned into gully where no one before me went. All walked around approx. on usual Žirovniška trail. First few meters really sank terribly, then practically no more. Could run again. But was over-tired and legs not responding ideally. So on top 10 min later than plan, but no problem there will be plenty opportunities for run this year. On top at that time quite a few of us gathered. Experienced snow shower too. Back slid more or less on butt, all way to bottom to Žirovniška planina.
It was super! Just pity didn't get up hour earlier and could do some more interesting ascent.

Aleksandra, first congratulations for the nice pictures. I'm curious how much it sinks on the path and what's up with avalanches - planning to go up tomorrow.

I started at 7am. Plan was to go via Žirovnica path, but quite awkwardly I lost the trodden path, so I searched for the way to the summit myself. I got up on the other side, where you continue towards Vajnež (pic 7), but no problem at all, since I'd already been to Stol. Where I was it was all frozen, so I didn't sink almost anywhere on the path, where I did sink a bit, it was very little, true I'm lightweight  . There are also sections with very little snow, so no danger there of sinking.
Towards the summit itself, around 11 it was still icy, so crampons did their job. At the very top there are some holes, visible though, better to walk lightly.... In Valvasor hut they said they had to dig out some alpine pasture a few days ago. No avalanches on the way, just snow clumps rolling in certain spots. On descent it warmed up a lot and even the snow didn't hold me on top anymore, but no issue. Went back same way as up. It was a gorgeous tour.

Aleksandra, thanks a lot for the detailed path description. I asked a bit today at Valvasor hut, and they don't recommend the path to Stol for now, even advise against it  And tomorrow bad weather in high mountains, damn Up another time!
Tomorrow supposedly better weather in lower areas... Safe!

"While I was sitting in front of the hut (Roblek hut) there was a loud bang from the direction of Stol, then rumbling, after a while everything quieted down. Probably an avalanche."
