Hey, interesting topic. Who will beat whom? ANIMAL-HUMAN. These are today's hot topics. I suggest Running Forum where carnivores-vegetarians bicker. Colorful reading for rainy days. Keep it up Lp Tine

Lady who's every weekend somewhere in the mountains, during the week probably also somewhere, at home a lonely dog waits for her all happy and content with PLENTY of water and shade and watches the salad grow in the garden ....

Dear Tijana, with your post you did really good work. Here we thoroughly vented and released incredible amounts of aggression so it won't bother us anymore... Enjoy your trips with your four-legged friend!

...or prolonged and repeated suffering, or harms its health... What else is it that irresponsible, frustrated owner of "her friend" takes to Triglav. She even brags about it. Irresponsible to fellow people. Crowds on these paths on weekends probably not all thrilled about dogs. That owner boosts her ego with the poor dog. In today's Jana let her read something, if any advice still helps her.

Can't you stop writing about this? You're not normal. Really disappointed that such people go to the mountains!

Really strange people who drag dogs into the mountains too. I think any forest or meadow gives the dog much more satisfaction than narrow paths, abysses and lots of people. We prefer walking our mutt elsewhere. That way we're all happy.

Who are you calling frustrated?!! Dogs are like people. Some can make it to Triglav, others can't and never will, because they prefer lounging, probably overweight, rotting on the couch in front of the TV, maybe in a block and the only nature they see is the lawn (if any) around the block. So don't judge me and my dog if you don't know me!!! And what irresponsibility to fellow people, where?!!!! Because we met on the path?? Come on! I'm not forcing anyone to look at, pet or do anything else with my dog, just as my dog keeps his distance from people he doesn't know. Oh yeah, I really met tons of dogs! HUMAN shits emitting "pleasant" smells right on the trail. I see no point in arguing here anymore, and it's true, you can't tell an idiot anything and an idiot stays an idiot their whole life.

Typical frustrated woman, like this she imposes herself and attracts attention. Dr. vet wrote in today's Jana that with affection for animals we redeem our sins and also lack of love for fellow humans. Poor dog that has such affection. You really know dogs too little to compare them with people. Take literature in hand and try to learn something useful at least for the dog. Maybe you'll succeed, because it's true idiot remains idiot.

Who attracts attention please nicely! I compared dogs with people only in conditioning sense, if you are such an idiot and didn't read it. And why do you think dogs are divided into FCI groups? Probably because companion dog doesn't have same properties as hunting dog hound, bloodhound or shepherd dog. Everyone must assess dog's abilities and of course its properties. And don't worry, my dog completely lacks nothing and neither when ascending Triglav! Everyone has their own opinion - I hope only that I never meet such as you in high mountains with dog or alone.

This "frustrated woman" knows dogs quite well, to have managed to take him so far without him eating anyone. Many can't even take him for a walk because he's so poorly trained. Interesting that dog opponents here speak up and advocate for their health, but in reality don't like dogs at all. Which owner would take dog along if it were so dangerous for its health and then pay expensive vets. So what if you have a dog you attract attention or what, I don't understand such thinking. You all claim how awful heat is in mountains, to me it's quite pleasant there even in sun, in valley I couldn't stand whole day outside, because asphalt alone overheats air and exhaust fumes ... I'm well over 70 myself, but still like hiking in mountains, because air suits me well, so I think dogs don't suffer there either, yes tongue hangs from mouth, because that's how they breathe when a bit warmer. Best regards Mojca

Please, administrator, shut down this forum, because you won't finish your debates, go to the mountains to rest, not discuss what is regarding dogs. Isn't it better to put all the energy into the legs and rather walk 12 hours and enjoy the beautiful mountains, than sit at the computer and reply to every provocation to "vent" at each other! And I hope we meet somewhere in the mountains, best regards, Sebastjan

That frustrated woman is another racer who drags her dog to mountains regardless how well she supposedly knows them. If she compares dog with people, I can mention only one difference to her. Dog has instinct, human should have reason: Unfortunately this person doesn't have it, nor intelligence. That's how human differs from animals. I'm glad I don't know you and similar. Although there are quite some such racers in our mountains.

I plowed through this debate and my opinion is as follows: 1. Dear dog lovers, from reading regarding literary style it appears that you are provoked by angry replies perhaps only one person who God knows why hates dogs? Or provokes you just like that? 2. Dear non-dog lovers, add this page among favorites http://www.svet-je-lep.com/ - if you persistently read it, maybe life on this planet becomes pleasanter over time. Good luck!

Here there are quite a few such who sit at computer, otherwise wouldn't find this page and read "interesting" debates so eagerly, seems they are the same ones, those who don't like dogs and have quite same grammatical errors and those who like animals. Here quarreling because of dogs, same could argue about birds, cats, bears etc. When you go on trip, don't walk 12 hours as predecessor suggested, because then you won't enjoy beautiful mountains - you'll be too exhausted and can endanger your health, that's too much for one day, you must take care of yourselves too so mountain rescuers don't have work.

Although I said I won't post anymore I just tell you that I inquired about everything. So you don't lecture me too much they from VURS replied: "public place is thus every space accessible to everyone where there is or expected larger number of people. By this regulation forests, mountains etc. are space where dog is allowed off leash. " Regarding picking up droppings in mountains unfortunately didn't reply, now waiting for TNP reply to explain (since not written in their law), how is with dogs bathing in mountain lakes. Also in forest I can have dog off leash at will but must keep eye on it, if my dog damages game then (logically) I answer for it. Nice greetings to all

One more thing, I'm just reading an excellent article in yesterday's Jana magazine on pages 44 and 45. I agree with the article and especially suggest to dog non-lovers that they read the red box where they advise how to behave and act so the dog doesn't misunderstand you and bite you.

Well, a dog must never attack you if it is poorly trained, which most dogs are. A good test is to throw a sausage in front of the dog, the dog must wait until you allow it to eat it. You must be the alpha male, which most people don't get, they raise the dog like a human... A good example is also if someone attacks you, the dog must stay calm until you signal it. Typically, the dog jumps immediately because it wants to defend you, so it doesn't see you as the alpha male.

These exercises are only mastered by dogs that have attended courses for service purposes, a companion dog takes a different exam where there are no defense exercises.

That's true, dogs trained for service purposes or defense training master this method (so when you throw a sausage the dog must stay put until you give the command to eat it) but also in another "discipline" of training the dog must stay in place until you allow it to retrieve the dummy (retrieve exercise) - rescue. In standard obedience per program A and B-Bh there's no retrieve exercise, so most dogs don't know to stay calm.

In defense the dog MUST attack immediately when its handler is attacked and not wait for a hint if it can at all. Go watch some service dog competitions, there are plenty in Slovenia too.
