Since I like snow, I went to Triglav today. I made my own weather forecast and it wasn't bad at all, much better than from our excellent synopticians. From Zadnjica to Luknja I walked in cloudy weather, except for rocks on the path, nothing special. At Luknja some snowflakes and raindrops fell, then there was more and more clear sky. On Bambergova path no snow anywhere, all the way to the "exit chimney". Then there are snow patches all the way to the start of the wall. Since it snowed yesterday, there was snow and scree all the way to the top, from a few cm to 30 cm in drifts. I descended to Z.T.P, went to the former Morbegno barracks and via mulatjera to Dolič, and Čez Komar to Zadnjica. As for snow, gear is necessary, even if you have to cross only 5 exposed meters. Old snow is washed away and compacted by rain.

Igor, yesterday you were right - there's still snow on Triglav! Nice photos you made, real winter ones. With such you really brighten our workday. Regards

Oh come on please, of course there will be snow, for that area and this time it's logical...

Eleven years ago at this time there were officially 3 or 4 meters on Kredarica!

Everything seems less and less logical to me. Otherwise, excellent trip and great weather. If there are a few clouds and some fog it's even more interesting.

Lothar, yes everything is becoming less and less logical, but it's just Triglav and the area where there hasn't been much heat lately..

What are conditions from Krma to Kredarica? Any snow, or crampons needed? I'd like to go up tomorrow.

Here: we're going on Saturday from Krma...here you have a report from the user on the previous page: edokrnic 12.6.2012 I was there on Friday. Snowfield between Kredarica and wall entry. No snow elsewhere. More and pics http://www.lukazoja.si/ if you go tomorrow, I'd appreciate a report on the conditions...

In July we plan to go to Julian Alps. Idea is via Seven Triglav Lakes to Triglav summit and then down to Mojstrana. Or maybe reverse, not sure which option better? Biggest unknown is trail, Koča na Doliču to Zasavska koča. Map shows two marked paths but no good description (duration, difficulty...). Would appreciate help organizing this trip, to be safe first and not get lost in alps. What recommendation for such trip. Start from Koča pri Savici or other side from Mojstrana etc.? Thanks on behalf PD Mališćak members

I think better variant from Vrata valley over Prag, or via Tominšek to Kredarica, overnight. Second day to Triglav summit then to Planika. From Planika nice path to Dolič, from there recommend over Hribarice to Zasavska koča at Prehodavci. Path nice easy well marked, only at Hribarice more attention to marks. If no visit Zasavska, at Green lake direct to hut at Seven lakes, very scenic path esp at Ledvička lake. Overnight at Seven, next day hike to Bohinj. Choose Savica falls via Komna or via Dedno polje and Jezero to Blato. Best leave one car in Bohinj. Wish pleasant hike and full mountain joys. Franci.

Just a small question, to hear opinions and thoughts of others on this portal too, how many of you mountaineers and hikers would be for an attractive via ferrata across the north Triglav Face?

And one more to go with it, what do you think about a gondola cableway to Kredarica?

Dear hikers, I need some help. I'm getting a visitor from the USA who wants to go to Triglav. I'd take two days and wonder which route you recommend we take. Condition is that the route doesn't require special gear (no more than e.g. helmet and rope), nice views and somewhere in the middle by tour length. And hut must be in between for overnight. One more question, to the top first day or second day early morning? Thanks.

And you haven't been to Triglav yet? I'd recommend the route from Pokljuka past Vodnik Hut to Kredarica, sleep there, then next day to the top, as summits are usually nicest in the morning, and weather is more stable in forenoon, afternoons often heat storms or some shower. If you need a guide, I can apply as I have 20 days vacation and been to Triglav already 15 times, and also conquered the north face, ha, ha.
