For the weekend the snow line in Zillertal Alps is forecast first above 3200m, then down to 3000m. Igor is especially right about snowfields. Landing in rocks is quite unpleasant, can also be fatal.

Weather for the weekend, that is Saturday, Sunday, Monday will be o.k., checked with a person from ARSO, assuming you're at the hut at 3.00 (Monday) or in the valley. Storms forecast only for Monday afternoon, but one might surprise. I agree, ice axe is mandatory now. Igor, I think it won't be so bad, maybe some trouble exiting the Mali Triglav wall. Sunday at 5.00 some AO Trbovlje members start from Vrata, joiners welcome. lp Andrej

Crossing snowfields can be quite risky, I prefer to use ice axe.

@Igor Zlodej and others: Sure, logical. I wrote about CURRENT conditions as forum title... But on ZTP I walked mostly on rocks right of marked path... If conditions change, mountaineer must "process" it in head and prepare for tour... Lp!

Igor Zlodej is right. I had ice axe and holder with me, because I didn't expect so little snow and almost bare path. At exit from Plemenice I met mountaineer with ice axe in hand, who told me access to Triglav is almost bare. Snow patches I crossed with poles into wall but still took ice axe. Luckily really didn't need it much, but safer with it than without.

Has anyone gone to Triglav Tominšek/Over Prag? Wonder if can go up normal or still too much snow?

In Tominškova still may be snow (I assume), so better up via Plemenice and down via Prag. lp

I know. But interested if someone passed and knows exact state. Team with whom going not for Plemenice so thought up Tominškova, down via Prag.

Path via Plemenice not drastically harder than Tominškova, even more bare re snow, cos airier and no cross gully. Also on scree Tominškova worn by crowd of hikers and thus more dangerous when wet.

But know what I'm talking about.....when start from Luknja left to ferrata, that's by me hardest detail all paths to Triglav, first 20 min. Tominškova path nowhere so nasty.

If have with you inexperienced hikers such tough trails, better go some easy path, plenty to Triglav. Nice combo Kot valley up, then down to Krma, of course with two cars. Weather not best for move around irons and wet rocks, so decide yourselves by safety whole group.

They aren't so inexperienced......and they will never become skilled if they don't try Just wondering if there's still lots of snow on Tominškova....

In the attachment is my photo from 21.06.2012, where you can see very little snow on both paths, let each judge for himself. Regarding Plemenice, it was already said somehow, and also during the time of the photo a group of four climbed up.

Thanks, Navihan. From these pictures it seems to me there's almost no snow, but in a week when we plan to go up there it'll be even less....if the weather serves us If someone else has fresh info, I'd be grateful

Yesterday at the summit. Started from Pokljuka past Planika. Weather excellent, lots of visitors too, Croats leading. Path completely dry..

Actually yesterday Triglav wasn't primary goal, but we conquered it anyway. Morning start from Planina pri Jezeru to Prehodavci, then over Kanjavec ledges to Dolič which was reason for yesterday's outing. Continued of course to summit where crowds were. Down to Triglavska škrbina and Planika, from there to Dolič and over Hribarci to lunch at Planina. Second highlight of day were štruklji at Planina. Our opinion we haven't eaten better, and friendly hut staff that brightens day more. Then just descent to Blato and drive home.

Hello,
I'd ask for a bit of help organizing hike to Triglav. With mates heading next month to Triglav (first time), fitness no issue as all active sportsmen. Problem now I don't know which path up (definitely want past Triglav lakes and total two days, so assume first day reach summit and sleep at Kredarica or Planika). Thought start from Vrata up Tominšek path, second day past lakes over Komarča to Bohinj. With this path transport problem, need to leave one car in Bohinj before start (that's quite extra driving).
So please any advice

Hi, In my opinion best to leave one car at Savica in Bohinj and with other go to Pokljuka (Rudno polje). First day past Vodnik hut and Planika to Triglav then to Dolič (Tržaška koča) sleep. Second day over Hribarci and whole Seven Lakes valley over Komarča back to Savica. Both days approx 8-9 hours walk. Depends on fitness and enjoying the path.

That's how it was yesterday at summit, despite fog rolling around Triglav, from Rudno polje past Planika in 4 hours reached sunny summit.
