To Triglav?

Strikan, can you please describe in more detail the descent from Triglav to Dolič and via Velska dolina back to Pokljuka? If possible also how much time you take for that return.

Thanks in advance for the answer.

Hello mountain lovers! I want to climb Triglav this year, also visiting all sub-Triglav huts, i.e. Dolič, Planika, Kredarica and Staniča. As a no longer so strong sixty-year-old I'm wondering if best to go to summit from Planika and back same way, or maybe up from Planika, down towards Dolič. Grateful for any well-meaning advice from more experienced hikers.

From Planika to the summit would be fine, the descent to Dolič is also one of the easiest. I assume that one gets to Staničeva from Vrata via the Čez Prag path, or from Krma. Then to Kredarica and to Planika. Anyway, I wish a successful ascent and suitable weather.

Today via Tominšek to Kredarica and on to Triglav, lots of people for midweek. Weather except annoying wind and some clouds quite OK, no big views today though, but Triglav always something special. Return over Prag where sun already baking hard. Path itself no issues, so just one foot in front of the other while weather serves nasmeh

Today we set off from Vrata, via Luknja and Plemenice to Triglav. The path is excellent, I warmly recommend it to those who are not afraid. Return via Prag to Vrata for the obligatory beer.

From Triglav you descend to Škrbina Polj, to the right to the left goes to Planika. When you reach the scree, go straight on the well-visible path; to the right goes to Plemenice which after half an hour joins the military path which goes from the barracks at Dolič. To Dolič takes around two hours. From Dolič head to Velska dolina, only watch not to go left but right. Left comes path from Planika, right goes to Hribarice. Follow the signpost. From Dolič to pl. Velo polje also around two hours. From pl. Velo polje you can go to Vodnik hut which is a bit higher or from pl. Velo polje on path which is a bit lower than transverzala and at Tošča turn they join.

Path from Triglav to Dolič and to Velo polje is longer by about an hour but much less tiring

Thanks for quick replies. Since tied to vehicle, was thinking of route Pokljuka-Velo polje-Staničev dom-Kredarica-Planika-Triglav-Dolič-Velo polje-Pokljuka. Maybe reverse too...

Hi, with some friends we have an idea to go to Triglav tomorrow. I'm wondering if the weather conditions will be suitable for this venture? And how about visibility, the sea probably won't be visible?
Thanks for the answer, Žiga!

Mountain world: Tomorrow it will be variably cloudy and some peaks will be occasionally in clouds. A moderate to strong northeast wind will blow. Temperature at 1500 m around 11, at 2500 around 6°C. Personally, such a forecast doesn't appeal to me anywhere, fog, wind, poor visibility, no views, .... the time for Triglav will come, the mountain will wait.

Hello. Since the last post here on hribi.net, my wife and I have traversed and conquered quite a few peaks. We started the two-day tour on Saturday afternoon after 16:00, on 07.07.2012 from Zadnjica. After four hours of walking on the mulatjera, we overnighted at Dolič in Tržaška koča (staff very friendly, prices quite inflated for our conditions, I think the highest around there) and the next morning headed to Triglav. From the hut at Dolič, we continued left on the path and ascended the mulatjera. After 45 minutes of walking, the path levels out and ahead we nicely see our goal Triglav. We continue in the direction of Triglav on the slopes, past Lojzet, to the junction where the path from Plemenice joins. We continue right up the scree all the way to the wall and further with the help of protections traverse up to Triglavska škrbina (here the path from Planika joins). We continue left upward on the steep well-protected path (right at the start approx. 100 m ascent there are two loose pitons, one bigger, the other smaller, which need to be secured). All the way to the summit on the slope of Triglav, a strong wind blows in individual gusts, driving mists from the Trenta valley. From the direction of Kredarica toward the summit and back, there was nice visibility of quite a bit of traffic. At the summit, fog greets us first. Soon it disappears for a few minutes and I take photos on all sides. After a one-hour rest and the obligatory christening of my wife, who celebrated her birthday that day, we slowly descend along the Triglav ridge toward Dolič and further toward Zadnjica in Trenta.

Experiencing a sunrise on Triglav has been my wish for a long time, this time I finally (partly) succeeded. As part of a multi-day path from Krma to Kredarica (and Triglav), then a bit around Stanič (Begunjski vrh, Vis. Vrbanova špica) and on to Kanjavec, Zelnarice and Sedmera, my girl and I set out at first dawn also to the top of Triglav. I also needed photos of the house at Kredarica, so for observing the sunrise we settled for Mali Triglav, which didn't diminish the experience at all, which I warmly recommend (of course in appropriate conditions, both light and weather).

On my blog I published photos, the whole path will be divided into 3 posts, because there is simply too much material. You can see the first one here: Sunrise on Triglav and photographing house at Kredarica
The sun peeks over the clouds and lights up the peaks around Kredarica.1

And one more question, maybe someone can advise. If I went the route Krma-Staničev dom-Kredarica-Planika-Triglav summit-Dolič-Trenta, what are the transport connections from Trenta back to Krma (by car)?

@Padalka: thanks for the praise, we started around 4:45 from Kredarica (sunrise around 5:30). First thick clouds rushed over the path to Mali Triglav, but they completely dissipated before we dug into the ascent. It was also light enough so no major visibility problems.

@andrej.bg: Bus goes every day (think last at 15:35) from Bovec to Kr.Gora and continues to Ljubljana, if not mistaken. To Mojstrana no problem, further to Radovna and Krma no connections, as previous said - need to hitchhike or inquire in Mojstrana about variants.
