Aleš, congrats on confirmed "citizenship" . From the nice pictures it's clear that you had a blast and that the moon kept you company too. I wish you many more such experiences in the mountains.

Hello I have a few questions and hope for some good advice. Next week we're heading to Triglav. I'm a bit curious about the route. We'll start from Pokljuka and then via Planika to the summit. Already here we can't agree since not everyone is in the best condition whether first day to the summit or sleep at Planika and continue in the morning. For the first time we'd like the least dangerous route possible. Is this the right one? Then we can't decide if just Triglav and down or return via the Seven Lakes. If going to the Seven Lakes then from Triglav summit down to Dolič and sleep there. Yeah? And next day to the hut at the Seven Lakes. Then again question how and what. Sleep there and next day back to Pokljuka, or same day down to Bohinj and find someone to drive us to Pokljuka. Very interested in approximate time of this route. How about space in huts this time. Hard to reserve anywhere if we'll decide on the go how far we get. There are quite some huts and all we plan is each day go as far as possible, but still enjoy and pace not too fast. Thanks for all useful advice Best

If you're not in the best condition fitness-wise, the ascent as you suggest would probably be the best solution and also the return to the starting point by the same path. One needs to realize that progress in the mountains depends on the weakest in the group. Better a bit less with more enjoyment, than a bit more and someone in agony. Whether you'll climb Triglav the same day or the next you can decide when arriving at Planika, then it'll be clearest how much the path tired you till there.

shouldn't the descent to Dolič be something similar or even a bit less demanding than the descent back to Planika?

Descent to Dolič is not harder, but in combination with Triglav Lakes mainly longer, overall more demanding fitness-wise.

Why is it considered that the path from Rudno polje is LESS fitness-demanding than e.g. the path from Krma? Personally I prefer 1450m ascent in one go, rather than on 8km "toboggan" (up-down) between Rudno polje and Konjsko sedlo (to Planika then same ascent), where you rack up enviable 1200m total. Descent time difference at least 1 hour in favor of Krma too!

Starting point in Krma is at just over 900m asl (1950m ascent), starting point on Pokljuka at just over 1300m asl (1550m ascent), so you overcome about 400m less ascent. True, the difference along the path is only about 300m, because the path from Pokljuka doesn't go only up, but also descends a bit in between.

Actual difference is less than 250m, which doesn't outweigh +4.0 km more distance on varied terrain and that in hiking boots? On descent (to Rudno polje) additional 250m ascents are made, which to the starting point in Krma aren't even 10m...

source: hribi.net From Pokljuka: Elevation gain along path: 1650 m From Krma: Elevation gain along path: 1934 m For descent to valley really nicer to Krma, because pure descent. Don't know why they drag 100 women from Pokljuka every year if from Krma it's easier?

Where will you accommodate 100 women plus escort in Krma?

Hello, on Friday I have planned ascent to Kredarica from Kot in the afternoon then in the morning to the summit, interested if anyone knows a nice loop tour to return to Kot, preferably shorter variant for descent...?

Hello, on Friday I start from Zadnjica to Dolič and Saturday to Triglav. I've been to Triglav also from Krma to Kredarica and via Tominšek route, down via Prag. All paths are very nice, Tominšek and Prag a bit more demanding and exposed. Hope weather will be nice. Interested what the path from Zadnjica to Dolič and then Triglav is like?

@andra: the path to Dolič is very nice and wide, if you go at the junction over Komar it's a bit steeper; further from Dolič it's almost flat to the scree under Triglav wall, when you reach Škrbina you're already almost at the top

The path from Zadnjica valley runs past Dolič and to the screes above Morbegna hut, that's under the Triglav wall entirely on a nicely laid and very well maintained mule track. From screes further to Škrbina on nice natural ledge. There a bit higher it joins the secured path along Triglav ridge. In my opinion this is the easiest approach to Triglav. The path over Komar runs through exposed terrain, that part is secured with pegs and cables.

@užitkar: from Kot to Triglav actually only one marked path leads. No real circular marked and on top even shorter variant like (I assume) you imagine. But on return in upper part (below Kredarica) you can circle around Rž, but that costs some ascent and hits you short, not difficult pathless (over Dovška vrata to Pekel under Rjavina). Of course you can descend from Triglav summit also to one or other valley next to Kot, to Krma or Vrata and then laboriously and long hike (or hitchhike???) down the entire chosen valley, finally back up to the car in Kot. Not really recommended, especially not in summer heat. There are of course more pathless partly circular variants, but based on how you posed the question I'd hardly recommend them to you ... Yeah, regardless of all above Kot at this time also has its advantages ... in the morning it's quite shady and somewhat less crowded than other Triglav starting points. Good luck!

@ Anya From Planika two paths lead, over Mali Triglav and over Škrbina, over Škrbina is the harder path. LP!

merkur: thanks for the answer, I thought so, I've been to Triglav several times already, not yet from Kot so I was thinking about this variant, but how much hiking is it from Dolič to Kredarica, I'm not yet decided where to go, just plan to overnight at Kredarica.

@užitkar: Dolič - Planika 2h, Planika - Kredarica 1h (source: PZS, mountain huts); from Dolič to Kredarica you ascend about 350 meters.
