To Triglav?

Hi!
One question for me! On 6.7.13 I was up there, and that ring or camera guide was still around Aljažev stolp, because when I look a few subpages back, I see from "your" pictures that it's no longer there. When did they remove it??

Yesterday 27.7. I also headed to Triglav as the conclusion of the first part of my vacation. Start in Krma at Korito a bit after 3am. The road further is really bad (to the forest), so those 10 minutes of walking pass quickly. But it's great to walk like that at night in the moonlight, a special charm, only in the forest it was dark as pitch velik nasmeh I catch the sunrise when I'm already past Kurica and pushing towards Planika. Calm and cloudless, super. So early because thunderstorms were forecast for the afternoon and as it turned out I planned correctly. Ascent to Očak quite fast since there wasn't such a crowd as on the descent later. At the top lots of people, mostly more foreigners than locals. Descended the same way back to Planika which took quite a while, I was dragging a bit myself "like fog" because of photographing. Half an hour after descent it was already thundering over Kanjevec. Triglav emptied in a moment though the cloud didn't move that way. Wait a bit for weather development. Then decision for descent to Krma, which dragged like a slow snake velik nasmeh with stops, the lower it got the hotter it got. Super day.

Hello!

Please reply!

On Saturday and Sunday (3./4. August) my father and I are going from Pokljuka via Planika to Triglav. Overnight at Kredarica. Back same path to car.

Since forecast is again over 35, even up to 38 degrees in lowlands, and UV index 10, I'm interested in the sun movement on this path in the morning. Especially above tree line, because in intense heat it's not recommended, so we plan to start at 4.00 to be at top before heat and safe. Which parts are exposed to sun and where is shade (side towards Pokljuka, or side at Kredarica)

Please some advice.

Thanks for reply.

And what do you experienced ones recommend, will the hike be ok or could it be too strenuous because of the sun?

Of course without hat and cream probably not, but we have nice tan from the sea nasmeh

In case the heat causes you concerns, wait until September. More suitable temperatures and much nicer and longer views.

Tours always depend on the weather and heat certainly affects it. But we people are different and so we tolerate heat differently. If it's windy in the mountains it's already better and probably some cloud does good too. Also early hour is worth gold in heat and we must have sufficient amount of liquid for drinking. I personally always set off to Triglav after passage of cold front, which refreshes the air and visibility is nice then.
Good luck!

We'll start at 4:30 from Pokljuka. By 11.00 we could already be at the top.

Then enjoyment at Kredarica at 25 degrees.

If you don't know the path and you're worried you might miss somewhere/it wouldn't go all according to plan try to hire a guide, for such tours it's not worth risking. Why a guide, because you can ask him more, he tells you something new, advises,... First time I went to Triglav from Krma I was scared like a rabbit in the middle of forest with baying dogs luckily from Planika to the top I was in company of foreign hikers so at least they gave me drive and I progressed, but that the ridge was so sharp then I didn't think. Reached the summit, return to Kredarica then "shock" you come to the end and see where you'll gozadrega. Nice to remember and now laugh at such experiences, now it's different with tours you gain almost everything from fitness, experience, to various thoughts, ideas, you discover further, know where your limits are. If you don't respect the limit, then GRS takes you dead to funeral servicezadrega

P.s. Above 1500 meters it's already pleasant, burns already, but in shade pleasant, enough liquid at least 4-5l, maybe hat, cream OBLIGATORY, hiking shoes. Weather will be ok.

The two of us set off yesterday morning from Dolič to the top, wind was pleasantly blowing for us, at times too much.. so no special thirst, views excellent, some people too, no special crowds, noticeable it's midweek. We returned to Planika and past Vodnik along Velska valley to Krstenica and Blato. Super tour that enthuses with surroundings, views, intermediate pastures...nasmehnasmehnasmehJust as we returned to the car a heavy thunderstorm...eek

Hello hikers, it interests me whether to head to Triglav in the next 2 weeks or better wait for autumn (due to weather-lightning) Which path do you recommend more for beginners (I was up once (via Tominšek's)) We'd go for one day, around what time approx to start?
I think this path would be suitable
http://www.hribi.net/izlet/konec_ceste_na_pokljuki_triglav_cez_planiko_in_mali_triglav/1/1/133

Do you think we'd need a guide?
4 friends would go
And where could we borrow helmets (Lj. or area?) if you recommend them. Thanks for answer.
best regards

As for thunderstorms it's hard to predict anything, next days forecasting more or less stable weather (although hot!).
If going for 1 day, good to start hiking around five. Can also a bit later, but not much dawdling. Although - since you say you're even more beginners, weigh if all have enough fitness for one-day. Nothing special, but requires some physical fitness.
Pokljuka variant ok, problem is descent which drags teeeeeeeeeerrribly. If you ask me, maybe recommend path from Kot more. Bit harder, but still manageable, and less mentally taxing.
No need for guide - well can take one, but generations of occasional hikers went up without and returned safely. All super marked and secured, so no fear.
Helmets - don't take my word, but think Iglu rents them too. Check.
That's from me, good luck.

The variant from Krma over Planika to the top is not bad either, return drags in any direction so nasmeh

Krma - Planika - Summit with all stops (2x at Planika, summit, Zg. Krma) takes about 12 hours. Guide you'll probably be yourself aleš81. Regarding lightning: if thunderstorms possible in high mountains, just don't go. Check multiple forecasts on sites and TV to decide easier.
No short path for first-timers. If I took someone up, I'd choose path from Krma over Planika both ways.
