Strange questions? Ice axe is good to have, otherwise no problem without, depends how you hold on snow

@redbull, thanks for reply. I agree ice axe is good to have, but if you don't have it by chance, you just inquire precisely about path condition and don't go if it's not safely passable without. That's exactly what the "conditions" forum is for

Today Vrata - Luknja - Plemenice - Skrbina - Triglav and descent via Prag. Snow not problematic. Plemenice dry then snowfield maybe 10-15 min and you're close to Skrbina (in this part already soft snow in morning). Entry without snow in Skrbina itself snow. Snow today at 9am quite soft. Went straight over it up 5 min and you're past, before that I pulled 7 young lads across. Ice axe welcome, crampons no. Up top snow on exit (around bend). That's it from that side. Via Prag no need winter gear snow only in upper part and that one great for kicking. No danger as it's before harder part. Full of lads and that's all. No pics from Skrbina itself cuz hands full

The only snowfield is below Mali Triglav, goes without gear.

Triglav in night attire is something you have to experience at least once . This time the newly minted night owls on this path were Slavko and Mateja. Resigned to fate they placed step by step into the dark night towards the goal which this time wasn't visible at all, just sensed. The moon was still sleeping, the sun had long said goodbye. Only stars adorned the sky and drew oooh and sploooh sighs from us . We were fast and too early. The cold on top chased each in their own way and finally the awakening sun started caressing our frozen faces. What followed outweighed every effort . Some tips for those heading to Triglav at night for the first time…. The easiest path for night hiking is from Krma to Kredarica and then along the ridge to Triglav. It can be followed and has a pleasant, non-strenuous ascent. Markings are visible everywhere. On the way from the shepherd hut towards Kredarica, above the slope break, watch for the unmarked but marked right branch (before Kurice). Just before it we cross an eroded flat valley. If you miss the branch you'd go to Konjsko sedlo. Description on this link…. http://www.hribi.net/izlet/dolina_krma_triglav_cez_kredarico/1/1/129 ... You'll be surprised how many people choose to ascend Triglav at night. Many sleep in one of the huts, but many make the full ascent from the valley. Better start earlier than later. If too early, you can stop at the chapel which is always open in season. For night ridge ascent count 1.5 hours, depending on fitness. The most primal impression is left by moonless nights when you proceed only with headlamp help. Don't count on the moon even when it's bright. It might be behind hills, rise late, cloudy and more. Headlamp shouldn't be too strong, or must have light regulation. Too strong light makes strong shadows when walking and reflects off rocks on ridge too. All that is annoying and dangerous. Weak light will suffice for walking and scrambling. Batteries full. Time difference between dawn when first red lines appear on horizon and sunrise is a solid hour. In between it's light but poisonously cold . Body cools, usually a bit windy and down jacket, gloves and hat will be your best friends then Shelter also offers Aljažev stolp, but max 6 people who will jointly shiver in standing position, grumble and shift from foot to foot . One more thing is quite important. Think how you'll drive home after the tour. Night unslept, efforts were considerable. While walking all good, no special fatigue felt. But once you sit in car it becomes pleasantly soft and warm, engine hum lulls. I help myself with short nap which due to adrenaline is not always successful. Then I drink one of the caffeine drinks like Red Bull and head home ASAP. Happy path and plenty of night pleasures

SamoK all the listed data for you, me, Redbull... maybe not useful. but I share Bagi's joy. and thank him for the nice post. and yes, for example my mom, all this data is useful. some really only know how to criticize. people are different, let each enjoy and report their mountain feelings as they feel them. congrats to Bagi and the group for the great tour and nice well-meant description.

@bagi, first congratulations for the nice tour. And thanks for the effort to put your experiences "on paper" and equip with photos. I like it if something is written under the photo. Don't mind the eternal whiners, nothing is ever right for them.
