Hi! From Vrata via Prag to Kredarica any snowfields left? Are they passable without winter gear?

No gear needed - snowfields are more pleasant for walking than going forward on the rubble good luck

Is it worth going this weekend? Checked the forecast and weather looks quite unstable...

Unstable weather you'll get if you start late. If in Vrata at 3am you'll be home before first hot thunderstorm.

The thunderstorm won't catch you but on return you might cause a traffic incident because you'll fall asleep in the car. But let's drop it.

I've been to Triglav 1x on my own wish (some 22 years and 11 months ago , the others I think 7x mostly as a guide. Well, not that I'm complaining, it's always nice in the mountains. This time a couple of paths and peaks where I hadn't been were added. The plan was roughly: get up at 8, leave home at 9, start from Krma around 11 and just by late afternoon or early evening circle a not too long route via Konjsko sedlo to Kredarica and Planika (Monday wasn't that hot yet). But mother-in-law said such late rising is really not appropriate and it happened the day was too long. Or goal too unambitious. So from Konjsko sedlo we headed to Stanič, in between to Vrbanova špica, via Rž to Kredarica and to Planika. Around Kredarica and Planika everything looked like we weren't in Slovenia at all. Czechs, Austrians, Hungarians,... few Slovenes. When we arrived at the summit a bit after 7am, we were the only Slovenes, only on the ascent we met one descending who went to the top to wait for sunrise. On descent we met besides many others a larger group (40+guides) of young Argentine Slovenes, so descent took even longer than ascent. On descent to valley, while girls rested longer at Konjsko sedlo, also to a couple unmarked peaks rising right above it. Great 2-day tour slightly spoiled only by the keeper at Planika.

Hi, we also slept at Planika, and the keeper was very friendly and served us in everything. Sleeping is charged according to PD-Gorje price list and she can't influence the prices. We also checked the bill and everything was correct. Don't judge people wrongly if you don't know the regulations-

@Trobec. Everyone has their own taste when suits them, but in my opinion getting up at 8am at home is really a bit late for hiking in mountains. So I fully agree with mother-in-law. By 8am or even earlier I can already be on top of Triglav if I start early from valley, around 11am I'm nicely home in Ljubljana. And thus nicely avoid all afternoon storms, heat and rush of similar Sunday hikers.

Majda, how nice it was to read and see photos from your hike! Congratulations on your ascent! All that fitness is the result of your numerous regular spring mountain trips... How I would be with you and really, how I would enjoy the views of beautiful flowers if I had some strength left on the way home. There is a special charm in hiking alone, right, this time not even your little shaggy black companion was with you. How do you always manage to catch such a nice day for your feats. Bravo! I would give you 5 likes, but can't, so just my regards.

...I always think of you when I see flowers, how nicely you describe them and with such enthusiasm inform us others about names and where to find them. Yes my shaggy puffball is not for such tours, only some short ones we'll do together. You know, when you set off on a path you hope for a bit of luck with weather, but it's not always so. Yes sometimes it's nice to hike alone and let thoughts wander on their own, thanks...

Has anyone gone from Rudno polje to Planika and stayed overnight, then the second day to Triglav (via Mali Triglav) and via Dolič and Velska dolina back to Pokljuka?! I'm wondering how strenuous such a second day is? A few days ago we did Rinka-Kamniško sedlo - Planjava and back, and it was quite strenuous.
