Weather experts, would tomorrow be suitable for Triglav visit and possible via which path?

Tomorrow completely not recommended to go to Triglav, via any path. The weather won't settle yet. This is written in sarcastic tone. Just by checking the "basic" weather forecast everything will be clear to you. Always do that the day before going to the mountains.

Yesterday on Triglav. Tour: Vrata-Tominšek route-Kredarica-Triglav-Planika-Krma. Clear sky in the morning, low clouds midday afternoon, thanks for the accurate forecast Tominšek path is very steep, interestingly routed and very well protected, not overly difficult, yet has sections needing extra caution. When I was at the most exposed part something rustled above me (probably chamois) and rockfall poured down, luckily I hid by a rock and some flew past me, some beside me into the valley. Helmet mandatory, SMV also good to have. On the via ferrata path from Kredarica to Mali Triglav renewal of two cables was ongoing. Quite a few people on Triglav, but summit slowly closing-low clouds. Descended to Planika where two cables on path are torn and can be very unpleasant for some-they'll probably fix it soon. Then to Krma as not tied to transport in Vrata. When it seemed with few drops under Prgarca no surprises, sky closed first from back then thunderstorm from front and fog covered whole Krma valley. Got dark like 8:30 pm. Rain, thunderstorm, downpours, hail. Helmet useful instead of hood Then wading through downpour to Kovinarska hut. Kilometer beyond Kovinarska hut big torrent from right flooded road depositing logs and debris. Friendly locals used to such stopped and drove me across water to other side where ride waited. Many soaked hikers waited with cars at Kovinarska hut till conditions calm and road passable. Good adventure and once more proof can't rely on forecasts, can't order weather. Though cursing all soaked way, glad at end all ended well without consequences.

I can't help but comment. What kind of questions are these?!? Do you ask such nonsense just to participate on the forum, because such questions are nonsense in themselves. If you're worried about strange weather, then you've already answered yourself, because if the weather in the mountains is "strange" whatever that means to you, then better stay home. I suggest checking the weather forecast again the day before the trip and assess if it suits you based on your experience, gear etc. Asking others whether you should go or not is nonsensical. For some the weather on Saturday will be perfectly acceptable no matter what, for others maybe disastrous. So everything is relative In short, the key is trip preparation and think to yourself what you want from the trip... do you just want to summit regardless of everything (weather, path conditions etc.) or do you want more from the trip - hope you know best what

Debra, the weather forecast for this weekend is very good. I'd be more worried about the crowds on your route.

Hey John, don't think I haven't checked the weather forecast, but that one drop worried me and I don't see why you're so personally offended by my question and so pompous in your reply, if some question bothers you and seems stupid to you, just ignore it, no one forces you to reply. Besides, this is a forum not a site for professional debates. You're just a typical Slovene, always ready for unfriendliness and cynicism.

Unfortunately we can't always say "Stupid question, stupid answer"! If it's your first time and a two-day trip, there's really nothing wrong with asking other hikers for opinion. I quickly scanned the weather maps for the next few days and it looks like there might be some light rain in the Julian Alps area on Friday afternoon, but Saturday and Sunday should be dry and quite nice. I think (my personal opinion) the weekend will be very suitable for visiting the mountains. Temperatures will be much lower than in previous days, but there might be much more clarity in the morning time than before. I also agree with the second part of John's response (desires and preparation). Don't forget to check the forecast the day before the ascent since we know weather is unpredictable. So Debra, warm clothes in the backpack, don't forget hat and gloves as temperatures have dropped and happy trail. Then attach a photo here so we can see what weather you had. Oh, and good luck.

Thanks for the tips. I'll report back and attach a photo if we make it to the summit, if not from a bit lower location. ciao

I have to comment again. If my response offended you, it did, that's how I understood your last post, I can't influence that. Nor am I personally hurt, why would I be, that's what forums are for, that's the purpose of forums since always, to express our opinions. My intention wasn't offensive, I just commented in my style. And I'll do it again. I want to say, of course you checked the forecast, since one drop worries you... and I don't understand the point of your question... Now you want encouragement, that we nicely and friendly write to you that it won't be bad, that you should just go?

Ah Debra, don't get offended so quickly and don't think in the style "if we manage to get to the summit". I tell you or hint, you'll conquer the summit and have nice weather too. Those up there hinted to me . Just start each stage early in the morning. Be careful on slippery rocks in the morning-forenoon time, on stonefall and of course don't forget mandatory safety gear like helmet, via ferrata set and something for the soul to tie on - "heartwarmer" with good content. Good luck.

Typical Slovene? What does nationality have to do with expressing my opinion. To everyone who tells you an opinion you don't like, you say typical Slovene? That's like some defense mechanism of yours? Sounds like a cliché.

Again I'll be a typical Slovene. En-goldy, you wrote it nicely, you're friendly but alcohol in the mountains? You probably meant in the little flask? Personally I wouldn't recommend alcohol in the mountains to anyone, not even to tie the soul.

He, he John, of course you're a typical Slovene, just like me You say I'm friendly , well you know....a kind word finds a kind place. Of course I meant "little flask" and mine holds only 1.25 dl—three more shots no—after 0.5. I agree with you that alcohol doesn't belong in the mountains, but go to Kredarica, Planika or somewhere else and at morning hour stop by the bar. They'll surely sell more than a liter of schnapps, because up there there's no sin....Eh I messed up, up there there's no cop. They also sell drinks at Triglav summit, without a bill. Anyway everyone is the blacksmith of their own fortune, if you like to drink, drink, you'll pay yourself, no one pours into your mouth. In any case the weather for the weekend will be....what it will be we'll see and taste only those who will be in the mountains for the weekend. Probably the newly fallen snow can be an obstacle—trouble, but only if it doesn't melt.

Thanks John.....yeah, who knows, maybe someday, somewhere...Once in the past there was a group Agropop with a very nice song with nice lyrics, just to remember a bit: "I walked on our land, met good people, modest, small but honest that's us. For centuries we live here, fight with storms, brothers and sisters we don't let disappear. Only a million of us still live on our little land. Only a million know well that we are good people"........ Over 25 years old song with a nice message that gives Slovenes a bit more courage.
