Bojan, thanks for the explanation. To me personally, "at first glance" this seemed strange, since (as I heard) the African plate is subducting under the Eurasian and by that logic the Alps should be rising. But, that's just my layman's opinion. LP

Bojan, thanks for the expert explanation. In the end it doesn't matter at all how high some mountain is (in centimeters of course)... Who cares?

For the mountain it doesn't matter how high it is. But it does matter for example at what height some anti-flood reservoir is. If that reservoir is 30 cm lower than they thought until now, then water can overflow it .... That's why such studies have very practical sense.

And now a bunch of experts for nice money will deal with this for months and years, but at the first slightly bigger rain, half of Slovenia will be under water and the endangered will be rescued by volunteer firefighters for a sandwich and a bottle of water

Bojan, tell that to someone from Log pod Mangartom, from Duplek, from Železniki, Savinjci,..., what practical sense do these centimeters have?

Does anyone know what the situation is for touring to Kredarica?

For touring skiing, you need to wait for real winter, as the terrain in the mountains is completely bare up to 2200m. And that snow on Kredarica is not transformed at all into at least the first supportive layer, it needs to freeze, damn it!

Bojan, thanks. Very nicely written and added pics. Demanding topic simplified, understandable even for us laymen. Good luck!

Triglav via normal from Kredarica already quite trodden, snow well transformed, great winter conditions for nice pikarija, only in rappelled vertical variant from M. Triglav saddle slightly worse transformed snow with crust. Ropes from M. Triglav "mostly" out. Temps just right all day (below zero), snow not melting Nice intro to Merry December....that one surely was ☼

Today Triglav visited like in August at three a.m. the parking lot in Krma was already almost full. At seven on top -13° and wind like on Nanos. Conditions excellent, snow hard so the ice axe safe already from the first strike, so I regretted not choosing the route via dom pl. and Skrbina. Still great (very frosty) day.
