Zadnjica - Dolič - winter crossings to south slopes - Over Bovška škrbina (two turned back yesterday at second cable - Summit - Mali Triglav - near Planika - Erjavčeva škrbina - Glava v Zaplanji - Dolič - Zadnjica.

Didn't meet anyone to the summit, summit even empty a few minutes, to Mali (very trodden) down to Planika met two climbing, then no one else anywhere. Excellent snow conditions, only wind spoiled winter idyll a bit.

Today summit in optimal conditions of course with proper gear. Snow heavily iced below Kalvarija almost mandatory crampons to Kredarica, esp for descent as slip fatal.

To summit nicely trodden not icy in steps. Today quite some visit on top. velik nasmeh

Today Slovenska dry and bare to gully, good hard snow to top of prevca there, some jumps too.
Path over threshold bare to last 200 alt m.

Yesterday slept at Kredarica, today 10.12. morning to summit.

Conditions not much changed last days despite high temps. Reason low humidity poor heat transfer to snow so not mushy. Like sauna 80 deg dry air ok. With more humidity pouring water on stones thermal bridge conditions different. Friendly weathermen explained, prepared great ričet.

Had to go up a bit again. This time at night in the moonlight and to Kredarica without using lights.
To the top still ideal conditions - of course with proper gear. But it was blowing some 70km/h at -5°C. All others behind me turned back.
Planned to wait for moonset but it just wouldn't go down, so I got tired of waiting.
For descent from Kredarica to below Kalvarija best with crampons. nasmeh

Since holidays are approaching and tradition mustn't die, we carried and decorated a Christmas tree to Kredarica. Meanwhile a quick hop to Triglav. Conditions unchanged for a while. (ideal) velik nasmeh

Scouts who brought the Bethlehem light are returning to the valley

This weekend on Kredarica, where scouts traditionally brought the peace light from Bethlehem the weekend before Christmas. Some of us went up to Triglav for sunset.

Conditions are nice. Could be more snow. First real snow starts about an hour above Pastirci. Somewhat packed by south wind. But be careful anyway, icy in many places. Snow to top of Kredarica sugary.

To Triglav nice trodden path, poles, etc. Some spots you scrape rocks due to little snow. Ropes on ridge out. Likewise some ropes out on path to Mali Triglav.

ps: Met PFranci (comment above) on descent as he hauled spruce to Kredarica. Saw it set up at home on webcam nasmeh

!!! Great pics, I think I'll come up myself for New Year's Eve and visit him on New Year's Day too if weather stays nice and dry.

Seriously thinking of New Year's on Kredarica and climbs to daddy for old and new year - like few years ago......

Anyone joining??? More on PM of course.

HELLO

I'M INTERESTED IN THE PATH FROM KRMA TO KREDARICA DO YOU NEED CRAMPONS AND WHAT'S THE SNOW LIKE HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE APPROXIMATELY? I'VE BEEN UP THERE MANY TIMES IN SUMMER BUT NOT THE WINTER ROUTE YET BUT I'D LIKE TO TRY IT THESE DAYS FITNESS IS NO PROBLEM. THANKS FOR ANSWERS.

Where there's snow, crampons are necessary for safe walking, together with ice axe, not poles.

Snow where crampons would be needed starts a bit below Kredarica. Of course it depends on temperatures... Time only you can tell. With good pace you need from parking lot to Kredarica approx 2h30min, without running. Actually current situation is quite similar to summer, at least to Kredarica, except you'll probably have much heavier backpack.

Today on Triglav....early morning crampons mandatory already at 2200m. More in pictures....
And one more thing... quite a few hikers went to the top without helmet today.... mine saved me quite a bit today...
