Thanks Igor for wonderful description and photos . You choose tours that are also in our minds, just no possibility (knowledge) for such ascents now. We two yesterday observed Triglav and path to it from Debele peči and concluded it will take quite some time until the path is clear and ascent safe for us.

Igor made me smile here a bit (cynically): "if you have a good helmet you don't need crampons"

When can we approximately expect this year that there will be no more snow on the path to Triglav?

Afternoon of July 17th, I'm joking. It's hard to predict. It's happened several times that it even snowed in July, otherwise usually the ridge from Mali Triglav to the top clears first and the path from Planika to Mali Triglav.

Igor, I still owe you thanks for the photo of that Aljaž that stays on top - you're great! Yes, that's exactly what I wanted. I'm sure you're trustworthy, as many times before. So on July 17th we go en masse to Triglav

Igor I didn't mean the date exactly But I believe that those who go to mountains and near Triglav for many years know when it's clear. I remember going up 5 years ago on July 7th and the path was totally OK, considering lots of snow this year I doubt it a bit

Hello female hikers and male hikers! This year heading to Triglav with mates. Three of us, all used to hill walking, but one a bit scared of heights. Collecting suggestions where to climb to summit. Leaning most to approach/descent from Dolič, some suggested Planika, but wanna avoid ridge between Mali and Veliki Triglav. Two years ago the handholds to which cables are attached were swinging quite a bit. Have they fixed or secured them? Probably go via valley of seven lakes. Thanks for tips.

This winter had little snow compared to last year, the remaining snow is due to low temps in April and May, this hot week did its part, but still enough snow so no stomping on rocks everywhere, tough in winter boots. Started vacation with Triglav so end with it too as driving to Trento. At Planja bridge spot Korita still snowy connected perfect for quick up to Luknja. Snow great for walking no crampons needed. Windy at Luknja as all week. Quick prep, Plemenice easy. Upper part some snowfields bypassable on rocks, wall ridge snow blown north, exit gully bare, ledge usually troublesome gone. Route planned go low put on crampons take ice axe, helmet warm since Korita. West Triglav plateau slopes nice snow, pure pleasure. Wall entry bare, Bovška Škrbina snowy to Gorenjska side to first pitons. Off crampons bare slab near top, last saddle some snow, tower out as Aleš said. Big change from last Sat. Ridge mostly bare from top. Down to Pode to Morbegna Lojz not home so to Dolič all as last year except south roof old hut twisted. Crash bivouac under Dolič then annoying mulatier to valley heat rising each turn. In Zadnjica Boris beer and sausage top. Crampons ice axe mandatory for Triglav, helmet recommended, some broken trees on path to valley will clear later.

Igor, congrats again for ambitious tour! Conditions high up as you described, esp. on N and W slopes still lots snow loaded. Snow holds in all higher cirques too. When visit Genoa also go to Varaita valley under Mt. Viso 3842m. Link here http://www.ilmetro.it/webcam/?zona=Monviso+-+Varaita second pic that valley high at 1900m still plenty snow. Often that mountain part foggy cuz southern location (Split latitude) and cold heights condensation.

Janez and I also confirm the described conditions. For the path to Triglav, I can only add that on Tomiškova in the upper part there is still one gully filled (two years ago the cable was torn there), otherwise it is bare. We returned via Prag, on which there are still three snowfields, which can be bypassed or crossed with appropriate gear (mainly one). Today several of us did the path to the top of Triglav, where conditions have changed greatly from the previous weekend, as a huge amount of snow has melted. I think no one used crampons for the ascent to the summit, but in the lower part of the ascent from Kredarica, when the path turns left (sunny side), there was still one snow patch, which we successfully handled with the ice axe. Higher up on the ridge there is still snow, which can be avoided, or rather the path is nicely passable. Anyway, I can say that we had a great time on Kredarica with the meteorologists, and jokingly we officially opened the "beach" on Kredarica today. Andrej and Janez

Hello, my team and I plan on 25.06. to head to Triglav, route would be: Alježev dom-Tomiškova path-Kredarica. What's the snow condition on Tomiškova ferrata, are crampons and ice axe needed, what's the passability? Thanks

Hi Next Friday or Saturday I'd like to go via Tominškova, while reading the forum I read your description of the conditions and that the gully in the upper part is filled with snow, I'm interested if it can be crossed without major difficulties, I always have ice axe and crampons with me. Best regards, Lado

Cheers You can get there, but the question is how safe.. Snow is melting and has little grip.. everything is on water.. A month ago you went from Kredarica in the morning because it was still a bit frozen, now even that's gone. It snowed yesterday. Yesterday it wasn't possible to continue the path. What do I know, there's some risk.. I'd wait a bit longer

Given that it has been snowing these days, I don't dare say what the conditions are on the mentioned path. But I believe that with this warm weather in a few days it will melt this new snow too and it will be possible to get normally to Kredarica. The gully that was filled with snow is passable with the use of an ice axe. Of course it depends on each individual what they will do. Best, Andrej

Summer has arrived and it was time for the traditional flag raising on Triglav. This time via Komar, the path is fine, fixed protections undamaged. There's still snow under Dolič, allowing easy ascent. Also on the southern Triglav slopes there's quite some snow, same under Bovška Škrbina, in the morning it was slightly frozen. (three turned back because no ice axe) The Slab is snowy, but snow causes no problems except wetness. At the summit Friends of Triglav meet, France solemnly ties the Slovenian tricolor to Aljaž in honor of the homeland Republic of Slovenia. Today is a holiday. I'll use France's words: "Isn't it nice that we have Triglav and Aljaž!" the words say it all and certainly more than what politicians tell the hungry nation with their stories. The cup of wormwood is too full in this land. We each go our way. I stop at Dolič, where they have works everywhere, yet they serve everyone and you can sleep. I descend via Komar. Down below I meet a nice girl going to Ozebnik, wish her a safe journey.

Congratulations and thank you, Friends of Triglav! Without you... - would the Slovenian flag be on Him and in His honorable place!?
