To Triglav?

Probably it won't pick you up if you turn a page back.

Let's say I'm interested in the state from this weekend. Since your (quite political) report, about a meter of snow has melted.

Thanks everyone for nice wishes. In the future I'll try to show you our beautiful mountains from another angle. If someone catches me in the lens during flight, I'd ask him to send me some photo.
More details on flight from Triglav and second video at the link:

Then go up and check, maybe conditions will be good for next weekend.

Lots of arrogance in your answers, Zlodej.

I'm sure Igor knows well what/why he writes what he writes.
Let's not be too sensitive, not everything is arrogance yet..
If certain answers don't please someone, let them, as has been said many times, just skip them nicely.

Hi everyone!

Wondering if anyone has info on what Tominšek's path from Vrata is like these days?

The path is normally passable (Saturday 03.07.2010), only one jump over the snow patch is a bit risky. To the inexperienced I recommend using an ice axe. From the Stanič - Kredarica junction the path is mostly snow-covered but not dangerous. From Kredarica to the top the path is clear.

Thanks mihovca!

I think I know which part you mean, last year that part of Tominšek's was quite tricky to cross because some snow remained there... Obviously an annual staple :P.

Too bad we have a forum when you can't ask anything. I'll really go up to check next weekend (unless the weather messes up), but this time for a change I won't write about conditions, because apparently according to some they don't change right around Triglav.

By the way, for the less arrogant ones, if anyone went this weekend from Dolič to Triglav, please report on the amount of snow on the path.

Some apparently live under the belief that they can get an answer on the forum whenever they feel like it and are infinitely offended when they don't, but they're not willing to do anything to at least look at what's already posted, compare with other mountains and have at least some basic knowledge of high mountains and also the ability to predict. Not to mention equipment, which is obligatory for such ascents anyway. So far I haven't heard of anyone who got tired carrying an ice axe on their backpack. Of course the question is if they even have an ice axe and if they've ever held it in their hands. For such, no matter how arrogant and cynical it sounds, I tell them they can still go to Rožnik, Šmarna gora or a walk around Lake Bled or simply wait for the snow to melt, maybe the chamois will report the news to them, as they've been doing for me for a long time, and then head to the high mountains.

Well yeah, sometimes we do get a bit too smart about condition details when we should have at least some more basic knowledge and of course experience in moving around when heading to high mountains. Otherwise it's probably (certainly) better not to plan it.
Occasionally we sound like some arrogant tourists who intend to go on vacation to an easy little hill called Triglav.

I agree with the two predecessors before me. But still I'd add this: if you don't have enough experience, don't go alone into the unknown. Especially not if there's crossing snow patches without safe stopping. Experience comes with mileage, self-confidence.....and despite everything every ascent deserves respect for the mountain and a lot of caution. Safe steps to all and enjoy the mountains. LP nasmeh

Interesting that others were normally informed about current conditions on Tominšek's path and via Planika, but no one smarted him with "go check yourself" or "look back a page or two and interpolate with basic high mountain knowledge", but obviously for the path via Dolič he shouldn't find out the current snow conditions. I don't know, last time the forum title was "Current conditions". What's the point of it then?

It's also interesting that such askers are then offered Rožnik or Šmarna gora, because according to them they're not capable of more. Maybe I don't go to Triglav 30x a year, but I can do more than a walk around Lake Bled. And since next weekend, which is my last real summer weekend in our mountains, I don't plan to drag ice axe and crampons for wandering around the Julians, I'm choosing paths where snow is not an obstacle. Instead of useful info, with which by following weather conditions you can actually predict the state for next weekend, one gets only a bad impression. What am I supposed to do with it?

keber1, let me help you:

The year has come around and it was time for the traditional flag raising on Triglav. This time via Komar, the path is fine, fixed protections undamaged. Under Dolič there's still snow allowing easy ascent. Also on the southern Triglav slopes there's still quite some snow, same under Bovška Škrbina, in the morning it was slightly frozen. (three turned back because no ice axe) The Slab is snowy, but snow except wetness causes no other problems. At the summit Prijatelji Triglava meet, France in honor of the homeland Republic of Slovenia solemnly ties the Slovenian tricolor to Aljaž. Today is a holiday. I'll use France's words: "Isn't it nice that we have Triglav and Aljaž!" the words say it all and certainly more than politicians tell us who sell hungry nation all sorts of stories. The cup of bitterness is too full in this land. We go each our way. I report at Dolič, where they have work over their heads, nevertheless serve everyone and overnighting possible. Descend via Komar. Down below meet a nice girl going to Ozebnik, wish her happy path.

This was Igor's comment on conditions you're asking about..

And now yours, about whose sense I'm asking you:

Say I'm interested in conditions from this weekend. From your (quite political) report about a meter of snow has melted.

..you described current state after 25.6., which you say interests you..

Whose arrogance was it about anyway?

True, if you're heading to the mountains, check conditions beforehand and you get them here on this forum, but some apparently don't bother to turn back a page or two and look for what the conditions are. Personally I also asked Igor for conditions via Plemenice, because recently there was still quite some snow, and he nicely and precisely described how and what so we wouldn't talk about any arrogance here. And this weekend we really went to the top via Plemenice and it was great.
At this time Triglav is already very crowded and quite a lot is written about conditions.

In these days I'm heading for three days on the Seven Lakes path starting in Vrata, via Tominšek to Kredarica, to Triglav and descent to Dolič. Please advise which path is nicest for viewing the Seven Lakes starting at Dolič and descent to Bohinj.

When is the best time to go to Triglav, during the week or at the end of the weekend?
Is Sunday too crowded up there?
For me, because of encounters between Planika and Triglav, one can meet normally.
