Haven't been yet, given snow conditions on glacier and west side of Triglav I assume there might still be some snow in two gullies or middle gully, which due to exposure is quite hard to cross. Checked with Lojz who knows this shelf best, he hasn't gone either. When I go I'll post, lp

On Thursday 8.7. my partner and I set off on a three-day tour namely:1DAY,Savica-Komarča-Double lake-Hribarice-Dolič-Planika;11 hrs:2 DAY,Planika-Triglav-Dolič-Kanjavec-Hribarice-Zasavje hut at Prehodavci;9.5 hrs:3 DAY,Zasavje hut-Double lake-Hut under Bogatin-House at Komna-Savica(Pekel);8.5 hrs. Times described in mountain list and on signposts we didn't achieve because they are quite steep and without breaks, however with such beauties offered now with mountain flowers blooming and chamois, marmots we weren't in a hurry anywhere as time chases us already in valley, of course weather was excellent and no fear of thunderstorm. Bothered me mainly the fact that Czech tourists take our high mountains so lightly. We met Czechs in sports sneakers (supergas), water shoes and even foam sandals with straps. Don't know how they shoe for paths in their mountains, but think PZS could send some notice to Czech mountaineering association how shod their citizens should be for visiting our high mountains.

You know dear friend, there are some who don't have as much fitness as you. I repeat, praiseworthy time. But Triglav for many is 2 day tour as they take it "easy". From any start to Kredarica, Dolič, Planika etc... Maybe same day to summit/or not. Sleep in hut and next day rested down. As I see you like fast walking, me too and many here on hribi.net, for someone not used to walking Triglav one day up and down is exceptional strain (esp if descend to Krma ). Lp

Mate07, it's true you're breaking records, sometimes I go for them too. This is another way of visiting hills. I've kind of separated them: climbing up or in easy variant, so along you can see something extra . Most people here hike more for enjoying views and relaxing after hard week at jobs, some with families, some really without fitness push up. I assume you're younger, like to climb hard, go for it, but know injuries don't rest (knees). Don't wanna complain, no one is slow hiker, just some a bit faster and the fastest. Anyway, if debate on speed, Mate07, you still miss some to my record. If you wanna prove yourself somewhere go run to Velika Planina, run to Grintovec............ Nice regards, no hard feelings

The forum is for commenting on anything. I didn't set any record, on other hiking paths I maybe arrived max. 1 hour earlier or even as much as written here on this portal, I walked moderately, didn't stop unnecessarily, I sat down for the first time only at the top. Maybe I was positively surprised by the drink, some sports drink that is expensive as hell. I didn't eat heavy food (no sandwich or similar), no one bothered me on the path. I built up my condition over 9 months (for weight loss). OK, now we're done with this time.

Drinks as many as you want but if no condition, Heinz, it's nothing. Energy gels are highly recommended here, they help as mateo wrote - with a full stomach you don't get far. I know a guy who to Triglav and back eats only two lemons, a bit of water and a few slices of home-made Karst prosciutto. It's true that this guy on some 7000m hill

I think it's useless to reinvent hot water here. Sandwiches are the law. I don't recommend gel for the mountains, unless in the last 45 min you go into "filter". Better energy bars if you insist. White bun and prosciutto or banana is the law. If it satisfies TDF cyclists, it will satisfy you too P.s.: Gel is always at the end, never in the middle of a long effort. More harm than benefit.

If you're thinking about energy drinks and gels to get to Triglav, I recommend that you hike for some more time and build up fitness in some less crowded place. After that, for Triglav, bread and a banana or some stew in the hut will be enough, and the satisfaction will be greater too. Regards

When reading such questions, a shiver runs through me, who all is heading to the high mountains. Maybe it would make more sense to conquer a lower hill first and read some literature in that direction, then to the high mountains. No hard feelings! Regards, Primož

On TDF cyclists eat exactly what miha wrote and injections on top. As for Triglav and times from Vrata since it's closer to 2.50h-to 3h you have nothing to do but watch the weather this forum is really awesome, not to mention the times.

Best if a guy takes some masseuse along, to massage you, then all ok. As for gels ask some older hill-climber, think he'll spit it in your face.

A piece of roasted polenta wrapped in a cloth, a flask of schnapps, an apple and water from the spring. Enough even for IIIs and IVs, let alone just hiking and via ferratas Don't believe it Look in the books, what Kugy wrote about the Trentars who guided him around... Now seriously. A hundred people, a hundred and one tastes. So to each what pleases him. Gel or lard, whatever. Same for drinks. I can explain what I eat and drink in the mountains and why. Because something just suits me and works for me. But I won't impose my "recipes" on others. Otherwise, I like to listen to new ideas and try something new here and there. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Lately I've been carrying 1 gel and 2 energy bars for a full-day tour. Plus 2l of isotonic drink and 1 Red Bull. I got to this combination that suits me in every way after a few years of experimenting with everything possible. An older man, alpinist, once told me: you know you've drunk and eaten enough and properly during the tour when after the tour you're just pleasantly tired. Not hungry, not thirsty, just satisfied with what's done.

My God, you're slicing him! Whoever conquers paths gradually by their difficulty surely has it all more or less clear.. People (Ljubljaners etc) think they'll become good mountaineers through an internet forum. Accidents follow of course... The problem is that we stick to questions whose answers the askers should figure out completely on their own. And we react like some experts.. And send your teenager with all modern gear and all kinds of preparations on the path over the cliffs! You certainly won't do that. And what are experiences then at all, when some of you, because of answers you don't even understand, are capable of attacking even the most experienced among us?? And now..people pile on with replies!

geolog79 Someone or maybe even here on the forum brought XX cans of iced tea to the top of Triglav and some other drink, up there it's really a party, whoever reaches the top thinks they've reached heaven, they pose like in a photo studio for models....crowd is indescribable, up somehow ok but down it's worth going the difficult way, because everyone goes down to Planika, because it's the easiest.

Well said, turbo wrote well. Really excellent! At my age I still go with what he wrote in the first sentence - except for the flask of schnapps of course Energy bars and other modern inventions probably come with age. For now I fly without them and without extra wings that you apparently get with Red Bull, (still) don't need them.
