Yesterday(14.09.2010) summited via Plemenice, descended to Kredarica, then to Staničev dom, from dom behind Cmir to valley. Snow patch on plemenice bypassable right (snow hard and crossing without crampons not recommended), on top still 15 min nice clear, then fogged, descent no issues to Kredarica, just past the hut then to Stanič. Behind Cmir path indicated by trodden gravel and cairns, last jump nicely climbable. Walking time: Vrata-Triglav good 4 hours. Total with stops a little less than 10 hours. Lpp

Igor, I'm interested in Kugyeva polica today, years ago it was quite dangerous.

In the last 10-12 years I haven't noticed any difference, except that in recent years it's marked with lines, well not the path over the ledges itself but the approaches from both sides. I wouldn't know what made it dangerous years ago. The scree on the ledges is always about the same, the view down to Vrata is still just as deep, from the top still occasionally something flies down, the fixed ropes are still installed where they were, so really I wouldn't know. But the conditions will change when snow falls and freezes, then you'll need proper gear and that could be in the next few days.

The lines are the work of Lojz from Jesenice, who lives on Morbegni. This is (unlike Knafljeva) his - Žakelj's marking. Which of course is nothing wrong, since such living legends as our Alojzij we probably won't have again. Near my home I too have personally marked some things somewhere.

So for this year Triglav is over, without crampons, without snow it will be impossible from now on. Snow is falling up there, probably quite a bit today and tomorrow.

Slightly premature statement.

Photo taken today from Lipanski vrh. Triglav is a bit "sugared", but the surrounding peaks have nothing. Otherwise an excellent day for the mountains that I managed to steal

Yesterday on Triglav. From Kredarica first 200m some snow, from Planika none (Planika is much better choice when a little snow falls, because the sun melts it much earlier). So yesterday and today Triglav was an excellent choice ... for the weekend forecast is a bit worse and the season without ice axe and crampons will probably end.

This means the probability of precipitation is 50 percent (regarding snow temperatures), the amount should be 16.11 mm per cubic meter (not too much).

It'll hold what Igor wrote. I followed this "ilmeteo" when we went to the Italian side of Monte Rosa and surprisingly the forecast held all three days as they wrote (predicted). Almost to the hour, no joke.

But is it dangerous to go to Triglav when 16.11 mm of snow falls? Seems like nothing to me...

I'd go up tomorrow, that is 23.9. full moon day... Start around 22h evening from Vrata and slowly to the top by sunrise. If the weather is suitable of course... Wondering about conditions from Kredarica to the top?
