This would fit better under the Toplar topic, but I couldn't find it, so I posted it here.
So: today I kept changing my plan zavijanje z očmi

. I started from Matizovec aiming for Kladiva, but at Dom na Kofcah they advised against it due to bad conditions, and there was no track either. So I decided for Great Peak. But surprise – no track there either. Since no one had gone ahead of me today, I tried breaking trail myself, which was very tiring as it sank up to r... jezen

I even planned to abandon it, when a younger couple overtook me, and they took over breaking the fresh track. Hats off to that couple! Hats off to the next two couples too, who of course overtook me velik nasmeh

and together they made a fresh track all the way to the top of Great Peak! Congrats to all nasmeh

! Well, on the ridge I reconsidered for the third time and due to poor fitness gave up summiting Great Peak and climbed the eastern peak of Toplar for consolation jezik

Weather mostly sunny, wind quite tolerable, so later quite a few hikers. Path slippery in places, so I used microspikes. In short – nice.

On Sunday, March 1st, my friend and I headed towards Great Peak...it was nice and the skiing conditions were really excellent. More in the blog nasmeh

Yesterday we went to Great Peak. View from the top as per our Košuta experiences – cloud when we were on top, and clear when we looked at the peak from below at Kofce velik nasmeh

The path is well trodden, but already in fairly early morning hours the snow becomes quite soft, which somewhat hinders walking. The day was super utilized. We parked the car a bit lower than the first picture, as in the morning from the bend where we left the car it was very icy up the road.

We left the car approx. 10 min lower down from here

The summit was so-and-so... A bit sunny, a bit cloudy, but still wonderful :)

Yesterday/25.4.2015/ started from parking below Matizovec to Kofce and on to Kofce mountain along the ridge to Toplar and Great Peak. Crampons stayed in backpack. Still some snow on the way, but no obstacle for me. Despite beautiful weather met only a few hikers.

Today 1.5.2015 from Mrzli studenec to Kofce and on to Great Peak and also to Toplar, winter gear not needed, goggles would be useful

This is how it was today, a bit windy and cloudy, and even rain

We skipped Kladivo, as the weather didn't allow

And we are already at the starting point

This time with a buddy to Great Peak for the first time via the protected path from Hanjževo sedlo. Start in Ljubelj, along the border path to Planina Korošica. Livestock is already grazing and at the hut you get among other things excellent sour milk. Hanjževo sedlo is about half an hour from the planina. At the saddle go left to Košutica, to the right the path turns to the protected climbing route to Great Peak. Right at the start we're in cables and climb them for a while. Then they disappear for quite a while and reappear. Interesting ascent through the chimney. Towards the summit the path goes through nasty scree - caution needed especially on descent. Just below the summit it's a bit muddy and slippery, they even put a rope for easier overcoming of the unpleasant spot. After a good hour climbing the rocks we're finally at the top. Would rather descend to Kofce but have to return the same way.

Goes quite vertically. Descent is harder of course

Entry in the summit logbook and we head back down.

On Planina Korošica a herd of horses also grazes.

Up again, this time from Vranček to Korošica and on to Hajnževo sedlo, then up the climbing path to the summit. Down again via the climbing path to the sedlo, then to Košutica. From Košutica along the hunters' path to the starting point. Where the "cables" end a rope helps, which comes in handy because the ground there is quite slippery. Maybe a few more pegs somewhere would be good.

Yesterday 24.10.2015 I was on Great Peak. Started from Mrzli studenec. Mostly dry all the way to the summit...

Today after a long time Jože, Mojca and myself went for a nice one. Jože and I started at the road hut (Vranček), Mojca drove back to Matizovec, where she climbed to Toplar past Kofce. Jože and I continued via Planina Korošica to Hajnževo sedlo and then to Great Peak, and to Toplar, from where we all descended to Matizovec. Conditions excellent, just occasional wind on the ridge and north side, more in photos.

Path from Dom na Kofcah to Kofce gora along the ridge to Great Peak is well trodden from today, since snow is dry, crampons not needed, gaiters yes because it sinks to the ground. Less snow - more wind-packed towards Kladivo.

Vranček - Košutica (west path) - Hajnževo sedlo - Great Peak (climbing path) - Kofce gora - Kofce - Matizovec - Vranček

When St. Nicholas weekend passes, the hidden "goblin" can take the path underfoot into sunny solitude...
Path to Košutica snowy in shady spots, mostly dry in sunny ones. To Košutica summit and descent to Hajnževo sedlo path well passable.
Climbing path to Great Peak dry in initial part, in the middle I mostly stuck to scrambling/bypasses outside snowy sections. Little snow, but dry and loose to slightly frozen, sinks under weight, no winter gear needed. Predecessor's footprints showed good choice of easier safer passages.
Just below summit steep hard frozen snowfield (ca. +3m), where I used winter gear and cut steps. Descent to Kofce and Matizovec unproblematic, some snow patches trampled and softened in sun during day.

Sun always gives great energy and unexpectedly carries far nasmeh
