Has anyone gone up the gully to Vrtača in the last two days? I'm interested in the amount of snow?

Early morning I drive to Ljubelj. Whenever I'm heading to Zelenica the path across the ski slope always drags for me. Today was no different. At Zelenica I sit on a bench in front of one of the huts used by cable car operators. Soon warblers announce themselves, singing all around. Couldn't see them, just spotted some flybys here and there. All too fast for my reflexesjezik When I spot where one landed I climb a bit higher and photo it, from veeery far.
Continue to Vrtača on the usual path. Path completely dry, just right to head barefoot to Vrtača summit, but not me. Just below summit two hikers and their dog catch me. Step aside, dog and younger hiker zip past. Wait for the other lady she's just a meter behind. And what do I see, she's barefoot. Of course ask her what the heck made her take shoes off. Says she often goes barefoot to some summit. Well let her walk barefoot. But I got a bit thoughtful that a barefoot person overtook me, I'm really a slowpokevelik nasmeh
At summit we sit together a bit and chat. No sores on her feet, then this wonder walks. Hikers leave after a while, pleasant company. I soon head to valley. Really nicenasmeh

Probably got inspired at the 2nd Slovenian Barefoot Run that took place on Sunday in Kranj.

Hi Flora1, this hiker is really good. For the descent she put on shoes, she didn't feel good at all in themnasmeh

Yes she was at the run too, I asked her.

Yesterday unexpected ascent to Vrtača. Due to a minor muscle hangover jezik (very likable phrase to me, otherwise quoted from T. Mihelič: Call of the Mountains) the plan was from Ljubelj past Dom on Zelenica to Koča at Završnica source and back. Since plans are made so that halfway the plan collapses velik nasmeh, already in Dom on Zelenica mischievous caretakers "fire me up" with Vrtača. No trace of hangover anymore, the more I walked the better it got, so couldn't resist the temptation nasmeh. Vrtača it is!
Path very pleasant, due to late hour already quite hot, thanks to slight wind that blew here and there over overheated rocks. On ridge, despite my concerns how it would be, excellent, ascent to ridge quite steep, here and there had to send some rock down over which I was especially enthusiastic nasmeh
At top with lady from Salzburg "chatting" as much as possible with her English and my German. Couple photos and due to late hour down as quick as possible, despite nice weather clouds started gathering. Little below summit meet friendly dog with owner. Dog felt good under my pro dog-petting fingers nasmeh and parked nicely at my feet. Sadly every petting ends, time to say goodbye, some still up, others already towards valley.
On descent take shortcut to Koča at Završnica source. Junction marked, path not. Path recommended downhill only, not uphill (half scree, half forest), quite direct and steep.
After snack at hut just get Vrtača stamp (in Dom on Zelenica) and back to car.
Extremely nice day spent in mountains nasmeh, nice high alpine path, recommended for all high mountain lovers who don't like precipices.

Today from Ljubelj past hut on Zelenica to Vrtača. Some fog some sun, still nice. Temp ideal for walking, wind just little on ridge. Planned return over Ljubelščica ridge but changed mind due to fog.

Vrtača today from Ljubelj via Zelenica. Some cloudiness first, soon clear again and very hot, as befits last days.

Anyone heading there from Tinčkova hut in Završnica: the road before this starting point is currently in very poor condition. (Only for those who don't mind their car)

Završnica. direct through forest to junction for Zelenjak-Palec, first Palec, Zelenjak, then below Vrtača wall and direct unmarked to Vrtača summit, descend marked to valley, afternoon tour. Path without peculiarities.

Usually the reason is that MOUNTAIN GOERS enjoy walking in MOUNTAINS, not valleys.

Today on Vrtača, start from Ljubelj, foggy, rainy, windy all the way, in short opposite the forecast on this side. Still successful ascent and descent, but need to warn of greater caution in the last steep part towards the summit or start of descent. Despite bad weather and zero visibility Vrtača didn't disappoint, will return in better weather for sure.

On Sunday 21.10. we ascended Vrtača. We started walking in pitch dark, so we needed a headlamp for about an hour. After a short stop at the Zelenica hut we continued the path towards Vrtača. Morning was quite cold, there was even sleet at the Zelenica hut, but during the day it warmed up, so it was no less hot than the Saturday ascent of Begunjščica. Upon return from Vrtača we decided to descend towards the hut at Završnica source, where we fortified ourselves with excellent buckwheat krapi and sauerkraut. On this occasion I would praise the caretakers at the Završnica source hut, as they are very friendly, homely and approachable, which I can't quite say for the caretakers at the Zelenica hut.

Today on Vrtača.. start from Ljubelj along the nice marked path to Vrtača... some snow the whole way, but fresh, no trouble. A bit off the path joining from Završnica hut, footprints end and go their own way.. we two follow into steep, not the safest, bit dry, bit snow, lots of wet grass... somehow cross all, reach border sign on marked path.. No crampons, no go... Return on marked path to start, some slabs, crossing in strong sun with proper gear no problemmežikanje Super tour, super nice day nasmeh
