Vrtača was quite besieged today... which I don't like, but for peace I'd probably go elsewhere. Since I've been to Vrtača only once before, and then in fog, we had some unfinished business... regarding views.  Path is dry, except rare parts. It was sunny, sunshine, and so windy as not for a long time. Most of us just stepped to the top, short photo shoot and back... then we grazed at all places where it was at least partially tolerable and not blowing too much. Group of Italians descending behind me almost made me go to the valley by helicopter due to carelessness, but the "rock" missed me a bit... and I went on foot. But I sat down long enough for them to pass and the step was safer again And another day passed, one for the soul...

Hi everyone
has anyone climbed the gullies on Vrtača or Begunjščica? Has the snow hardened a bit and holds or is it still too soft? Thanks for the reply and Merry Christmas everyone

On Sunday we went up the Central Gully on Begunjščica. In the first part of the approach the snow was crusty frozen (previous day it rained or wet snow fell), on the steep upper part it was quite soft- upwards we wallowed, downwards it sank nicely. Conditions aren't quite right yet, but walkable and views from the top outweighed everything. Recommend early ascent. Others had similar conditions on Vrtača.
I'll ask my buddy to upload photos from Sunday too- a little treat
