JusAvgustin is right (that gully is not O.K. for ascent). I've always gone via Y, or over the little head.
The gully was probably already "deflowered" (up or down) by Tržič guys, who anyway poke into even more hidden corners in their end!!!!

Today I was on Vrtača. Started at 9:30 from Tinkova hut. On summit at 12:00. Walking conditions very bad, windy, sometimes very strong. A bit below summit rain for 10 min, on top just drizzling. Fog or cloudiness too. Estimate that 100m higher summit would have nice sun, as sometimes wind made sun shine through clouds/fog. Attaching two pics, others bad due to fog/cloudiness not usable:

From Vrtača to Stol still quite some snow - mainly n. side, i.e. ascent to saddle between Stols..
No pics of specific path section, but check two day-before-yesterday recordings of north side.

When will I finally manage to reach the top of Vrtača, last year I got just to the ridge then turned back, hope it'll happen one time. Today I had real itchy hands, cuz I couldn't go anywhere due to car breakdown.

Since Parkeljc already nicely said and pictured everything I got nothing to add, difference is only that me and my buddy started from Ljubelj. Nice pics Parkeljc, we met right below the summit.

Who cares for footpaths and markers from Zelenica on towards Vrtača, Stol, Suhim ruševjem? Last Saturday I was on Vrtača and noticed that for a couple of years no one has maintained paths and marks in this end. All overgrown with small pines, marks poor, old. Someone who's there for the first time has a hard time finding the right path. Hope in next years something gets fixed. Nice regards!.

Dunno, but I went Sunday morning first time and had no trouble finding path. But still... Won't post pics cuz Parkeljc did, only if someone wants to go to Stol then see how it looks. As written already, path to Vrtača mostly dry, except bit of snow on ridge, to Stol snow only north side, to saddle between both Stols.

On Saturday we with the group used the nice forenoon weather for climb to Vrtača from border pass at Ljubelj and so Sunday rain easier endured Pen for entry in book in box at top has, if I saw right, stopped working, so if next visitors find extra one let them take it up.
