Rote Scharte is a saddle at an altitude of 2974 meters located in the High Tauern mountain range. The saddle is located 0.4 km south-southeast of peak Zollspitze. The nearest mountain hut is Stüdlhütte, located 2km east-southeast. A little further is bivouac Figerschupfe. 2 km north-northeast from the saddle there is glacier Fruschnitzkees, 3 km east-northeast from the saddle there is also glacier Ködnitzkees. The saddle is located above the valley Dorfer Tal.
