What all will be taught theoretically and practically and I don't know why they write...for those interested in alpinism. As if this necessary knowledge isn't needed for very demanding non-alpinistic tours either. Maybe reading topos not so much, as the rest which is needed. Unless you only hike non-stop to some Blegoš or Velika Planina.
Theoretical lectures cover the following topics:
- knots,
- mountaineering gear,
- first aid,
- ethics and grading ascents,
- reading topos and terminology,
- preparation for rock tour,
- orientation,
- dangers in mountains,
- weather,
- GRZS,
- preparation for winter tour,
- ski mountaineering,
- altitude sickness, frostbite,
- history of alpinism,
- training, nutrition and injuries.
In practical exercises we will cover:
- tying into harness, belaying partner,
- basics of free climbing,
- rappelling and lowering on rope in crag,
- placing pitons, using removable protections (nuts, cams),
- building anchors in rock,
- rope team movement in multi-pitch routes,
- building anchors for rappel and rappelling,
- self-rescue (prusiking),
- rescuing fallen partner,
- transporting injured partner.
- walking with ice axe and crampons,
- self-arrest with ice axe,
- anchors in snow, rope team movement in snow,
- using avalanche kit (beacon, probe and shovel), snow profile and snowpack stability test.
