On Saturday on Begunjščica. Conditions already not too good in the morning - mainly due to high temps.
At top of Central gully a huge serac looms, which with continued thaw will likely roll to valley (with all that slides down Central) - so careful!

Weekend on Zelenica, did winter tour for less experienced members of our guides' station. On Sat centralka, on Sun Suho ruševje, Palec and Zelenjak. Weather Sat a bit cloudy, Sun wonderful, perfect winter idyll, sun but lots of snow. Conditions good, seracs at centralka exit and Y waiting, Lenuhova fine no issues, lots of visitors, hut full of Croats, climbing all sides, Sun full of ski tourers. In short, nice weekend and solid conditions for gaining experience, think Begunjščica and Vrtača maybe to end of March, [something] melts snow incredibly fast. Some pics as always...

Today from Zelenica via Šentanc to Begunjščica. The avalanche field was frozen in the morning - walking without problems. On the ridge, the first sun rays softened the snow. As for the crack - I think no danger currently, but possible to fall in if not careful - for those from Begunjska Vrtača direction. But from the summit down to Šentanc avoids the main crack.

Start at 10h only, quite warm, but to Šentanc some sinking for walkers, then almost concrete in the field, quick skins on, Nina crampons. Turned to west or descent gully direct to Begunj. vrtača. Tracks done, looks very popular. Top alone, no crowd today, little wind sometimes. Descent and skiing down the left branch of Šentanc, top hard, glassy, lower part quite good, all holed, today no optimal skiing, day fantastic anyway.
p.s. Last Sunday turned at 6th pillar into the widest field to Beg. vrtača, but at Y turned right to the end, no passage and descended. Maybe someone knows gully name and where is the passage to the ridge? Skiing was super and the field very lonely despite nice pitch and good snow!!

Today again via Smokuški plaz where I skied before the weather worsened, when conditions were insanely good. I was curious how it would be today. You can drive the car to Tinčkova, if you don't mind. Snow starts from the turnoff to Roblek and then to the top. At 11 a.m. just below the plaz, snow a bit softer, I ascend without skins, a week ago impossible, Nina with crampons so she doesn't slip. We met some skiers who picked the right descent time (around 11 a.m.), early morning very hard. Only at 1 p.m. on top, easier today, no crowds, I think most already in the valley. Skiing first on windcrusted snow, then quasi powder, traverse to shade left where windpacked, a bit crusted, holds my weight in places, best is the lower part, slightly windcrusted like on a piste. Wait for Nina, sit a bit at the end of the plaz, alone, no living souls anywhere,,,
P.S. Another fantastic day on the snow, one of the nicer and for these parts more solitary destinations..

I went today to Begunjščica. Morning start from Draga via Poljska Planina and Dom na Robleku then along the ridge to the top of Begunjščica. Snow starts a bit below Roblek. From the hut onward snow still hard enough for ascent to the top. For the return, when coming back, snow becomes softer and sinks in between, so I must be more careful; ice axe and crampons are necessary.

Yesterday we drove again to Završnica, parked 5 min below Tinčkova hut. Snow visibly receding, we put on skis after 30 minutes. At 11am at the nice chalet Zelenica, Smokuški plaz, my fav, alone.
In the steep it slips a bit, so we put on skins, Nina without crampons. Plaz still nicely filled, think snow holds some time. At the top alone, occasional from Y or Šentanc. Descent Katja first cautious then skis free realizes super conditions after released snow. End plaz 2pm note descent too quick but used another great surprisingly sunny snow day.

Given that I returned broken from skiing, ribs + knee op pending, nothing torn, I like reading your articles, hope only this year my skiing season, even touring, and hills is over.

@donat some words of consolation,
so it will be easier for you to sit at home.
They say bike for a healthy body
but I fall and break my leg
on top they advise me against riding it anymore,
so I quickly part with it.
Because I love hills and mountains,
now my heart burns for them.
Flowers are especially dear to me,
with them the mountain experience is even more beautiful.
To you I wish the quickest recovery and
that you find understanding nearby.
