In a lack of time, Begunjščica is always a good choice.

Lots of people at Zelenica, where avalanche safety courses and other workshops were going on.
Those who headed to the summit today all went through the Central Gully, first Klemen and Mato, then M&M, then Darja, Tom, Brane and me.

At the top fog you could cut with a knife, strong wind but warm. Thaw has well softened our hills. Snow in the upper part super, in the middle too. After gully exit slush starts getting worse, ending at the car as a stream. nasmeh

Snow grabs skis even if well waxed, so watch out.. nasmeh

Thanks to the anonymous person who brought the blue hat to the Zelenica hut yesterday, which I lost during the ascent from Saturday to Sunday night. If you get in touch, beer sometime!

Today's Begunjščica via Y gully and descent over Šantanski plaz... nothing special on such a nice day... top as usual a bit windy and crowded as expected, especially those on skis mežikanje

morning, we two already towards Zelenica

decision to try the Y gully for the first time

someone is already heading towards the valley

a little more and Tonika will be on Begunjščica

and both of us reached the windy summit today

Has anyone been in the last few days on Begunjščica through the Central Gully? Curious about conditions for ascent, planning it for Sunday. nasmeh

We were on Thursday and Friday (18-19.01.) around Begunjščica - wonderful! nasmeh

Climbed Lenuh's gully then the ridge to Begunjščica summit and descent via the main gully then ascent via left Y and descent via Šentanski plaz. Next day towards Rožić's gully but first jump too steep... turned back again nasmeh

Yeah, conditions above Zelenica are really perfect, some windpacked snow on the old base.
Today sunny with some wind, especially in the gullies, pleasant and warm at the top with nice views at least in the morning, later I don't know.
For the ascent we chose the left branch of the Y then Šentanc.

Today up the Central, descent via Šentanc.
I was quite surprised how filled with snow the gully is. In it mostly hard base, icy in places. Quite tiring, as you climb most of the time just on the front crampon points. zavijanje z očmi

No tracks, or they were completely snowed over, so no benefit from predecessors.
Šentanc chute quite hard when descending from the top, better lower down. mežikanje

Today I wandered again above Ljubelj with PD Rašica and others, we did a nice tour to Begunjščica for warm-up via Y left then to summit, descent via Centralna to Y entrance, back into Y and Trolka III 50° superb and descent via Šentanc to Ljubelj.

Me too Saturday on Begunjščica. Up Central, down Šentanc. After 10-day cold this tour fit perfectly.

Today again nice day in hills: Zelenica - Šentanc - Veliki vrh Begunjščica and same back. Tour not as attractive as Todi's, but still very nice. Weather gorgeous, shade to ridge, then sun and most important - snow perfect for walking. Lots of visitors.

Oho, Janez. I also went the same path yesterday (left exit from Šentanc). Before the exit I turned into the rocks and really struggled to the top, although it was just a small jump.
I agree with you. It was a nice day and unique conditions. The most dangerous are the first 300 m when you get out of the car, due to the ice. I hope we meet somewhere.
