We went today ourselves to check the mentioned path. The path is currently normally passable with winter gear. Nice mountaineering greeting.

Hello,

with colleagues we planned to climb Y gully from Vrtača, when already walking towards it, we decide due to lack of snow rather to "climb" the ridge from Begunjščica. Before starting to climb, I see I'm missing ice axe on backpack. If someone finds it please notify me 030 458 300.

Good luck,
Michel

Today to Begunjščica via Šentanski plaz and back.

Road under former cable car is down some icy and lightly snowy, but enough space to avoid ice. From Vrtača hut continued on hiking path over scree (avalanche), snow hard, trodden and no problems. Šentanski plaz barely snowy at bottom, 100-200m higher enough snow for crampons. Most steps lead mainly down, but still ease ascent. Last 100m snow quite hard or locally icy, but here too shallower tracks helpful. Except lowest few hundred meters Šentanc actually like lots of snow.

Views from top gorgeous. Also from ridge, where I glanced at Parkelejc with climbing partner descending Central gully nasmeh.

Returned same way to end of Šentanc, there swapped 12-pointers for microspikes. Service road I descended was plowed and groomed by snowcat.

Below, almost complete Šentanski scree.1
The last meters before exiting onto the ridge are quite tough.2

Today up Central gully to Begunjščica and back via Šentanski plaz.

From parking first 100m completely dry, but service road thickly icy and luckily covered with few mm snow to at least barely walk. At scree bottom stones visible, right by ruins 20m wide band of consolidated snow, doable with or without crampons. Higher up winter gear and experience of course mandatory. Ahead only one fairly fresh track but I mostly avoided due to long stride. Sank first 6 crampon points, sometimes less, here and there 1-2m even more. No icy slabs requiring front 2 points walk. No kicksteps or "stairs" from walking, wind polished or filled all. I actually like such conditions.

At top sun shining, but nasty wind from south-west. Of course not as strong as last week when it tossed me on Črna Prst. Šentanski plaz I descended less hard up top than 6 days ago, overall seems one shade more frozen than Central gully. On service road happily glissaded with 12-pointers, with little effort other ways too.

Anyway, wind will do its at night and morning all ready for new visitors - groomed, ironed and no tracks. Almost like today.

At Može - wonderful pillars.1
On the right it is possible for some time with or without crampons.2
The jump is nicely filled in.3
View back a little below the summit.4

The last snow dust has stuck to the rocks in places.6
A little more and I'll be warm.7
View down from the edge. No exposure on the exit.8

Ljubelj and already below Vrtača hut put on crampons, it is very icy. Up Central gully which is filled and hard. At top wind only on ridge, a bit below ridge on south side no wind. Descended Bornova path.

Via Y over the left branch and descent via Central. Current conditions in the left branch up top are demanding. In the upper part I went straight, over half-bare small grassy step and at the end over small wall. Right exit is roughly much easier.

Both southern paths to Begunjščica are dry, which does not apply to the path from Zelenica. Warm slopes are liked by snakes too, so more looking under feet is not amiss.

The southern slope of Begunjščica is bare.1

But "walking" is allowed only in the municipality of one (current) residence.

If the hikers of the municipality with the last SPP stamp survive this restriction, so will we with more square kilometers.

Yesterday's tour to Begunjščica via the Central Gully started rather miserably, at least weather-wise. The forecasted clear skies were impossible to find, a few snowflakes even danced from the dense clouds. The slide above Zelenica is bare at the start, so you need to dig into the scree a bit. Conditions for the ascent are still very good, snow is hard, a bit icy in places, and there's more than enough for now. But yesterday there was a real barrage of flying stones whizzing from everywhere, I almost turned back. At the exit from the narrowest part of the gully it got a bit better, I didn't dare take many photos, but kept my eyes wide open because stones flew here and there. Probably too warm due to cloudy weather and nothing froze overnight.
At the summit I got occasional sun rays as a reward, but no particularly nice weather.
Descent via Šentanski Plaz, which in the upper part is mostly bare except for the edge deposit, lower down you walk on snow for quite a while.
When I reached Vrtača Hut, clear sky and sun appeared mockingly. Oh well, next time better! Otherwise OK for the first post-corona tour.

Yesterday we walked the circular path from Draga to Begunjščica. Ascent via Planinca, Polška Planina and Roblek. From the top via Kalvarija to Prevala, where we treated ourselves to štruklji and gibanica, followed by descent to Draga back to the start.
Paths without issues, Kalvarija lives up to its name.

I have some questions:
- given that the Ljubelj border crossing is closed, is parking possible at Ljubelj?
- is the path from Ljubelj through Bornove tunnels to Prevala normally passable?
- is the path from Zelenica to Roblek dry, or is there a snow problem somewhere?

Thanks and best regards!

Border crossing is open from 7 to 21 hours, parking normal as the plateau and surroundings are not closed, people up there as many as you want. Path to Prevala is dry for a nice while already..

Parking at Ljubelj ok, path through Bornove tunnels to Prevala also ok, on the path from Zelenica to Roblek there might still be some snow somewhere.

Parking is possible at Ljubelj, part of the parking lot is paid (3 euros per day).
The path through the tunnels is dry and normally passable.
The path from Prevala to Roblek and to the summit is dry (same via Kalvarija), some snow only below the Begunjščica summit (towards Kalvarija) - not on the path and good for snowballing.

Thanks to everyone for the answers, cotro4, read my questions again, and you'll see that Bogi's post doesn't exactly help me. I'm also interested in the path: Zelenica - Roblekov dom.
best regards!
