reading and after a long time up here really enjoying again - without "wise guys" with inappropriate smart-assing but a wink to the noble recent past. Tour, as Igor says, with old mountain wardrobe... how does it go, the word became flesh...

Bravo Skalar, I would also come to such a mountain meeting in old gear and without "wise guys" Initiator, organize!

Me too, but sadly I threw away all "fluffy" shirts, wool sweaters and knitted socks. Never mind, wool is still available, I can knit, just announce the meeting a month ahead. Igor all compliments for the look, you're real Connery.

"Fluffy" shirt I still have, one of the good December guys brought me štumfe last year, pumparc sadly no more, a hat I could search for, think it's still somewhere. Almost ready for meeting

@velesa, obviously you didn't read well, I wrote that I'm thinking of going myself to some hill in such ancient gear, I said nothing about meeting, though it's tempting me more and more, if nothing else to finally meet some "friend". I hope I didn't disappoint anyone too much, you can go with me in such gear too.

Yes, Igor, that was a few pages back. Well, I was looking at this your sentence: Darja, regarding meeting it would be worth considering. Surely it would be massively visited

@Igor, regarding too big pants there really is no panic. You know that a prusik is always found in the backpack. Candidates for help with fitting surely wouldn't lack. But I say cotton ruined not just unbuttoned men's shirts. It also affects the drastic reduction of women changing clothes. Meeting, yes, that would really be interesting. If you need some helper just let me know.

Weather this weekend really looks nice. @tukalica, will you tweet anything in upper Posočje or Gorenjska next days?

Well my gear is from the end of the 70s. Alpina shoes- right sole peeled off on Korošica so I quickly fixed the thing with help of the caretaker and spax screws for descent and retirement. As for the pants from elastic corduroy (It- Vidusi) I was so proud that I just couldn't part from them. And the hat is somewhere among gear for carnival and similar events.

Hi, does anyone have experience with "down jacket" from Primaloft material (Warmpeace, Kibuba)? Thanks.

Very good manufacturer (Czechs), price-wise very good choice, quality workmanship. Primaloft or synthetic filling is excellent thermal insulator, so down jackets warm very well, but compared to down we sweat a lot more. Primaloft doesn't transport moisture as well. But good choice for very cold days.

Currently I have a "classic" down jacket, previously also Primaloft. The key difference is that when your down jacket gets wet, really wet... goodbye thermal insulation and hello extra weight (not to mention how to dry it all afterwards, especially if you're supposed to do it in the mountains). Primaloft keeps warming and warming. In dry weather nothing beats down, but since it's meant to be a universal piece of clothing, I think Primaloft is more reliable in the long run, weather is weather. And why back to down? Because I prefer natural materials. Although I'm not (yet) thinking about replacing fleece with a knitted sweater.

Personally I swear by down; I do have a synthetic down jacket too, but I use it only on those days when I go into ice and thus there's a good chance it'll get wet. For everything else down - seems lighter and insulates better to me. Regards, P.

Definitely I'd choose natural material over synthetic. So down over Primaloft. The cuin count depends on the conditions you'd use it in... If choosing, I'd buy from the Japanese (Montbell), same quality as Patagonia, but much, much, much cheaper including shipping from Switzerland... regarding Warmpeace the following: it can be kickass for someone, but my buddies used it on the whole climbing expedition in Pakistani Towers, and didn't "fuck up" a single seam, while on down jackets from some "renowned" French manufacturer the seams tear by themselves even before potential buyers try them on. La Sportiva was until recently fucki...good manufacturer...until recently...
