Today to Crna Prst from Kal village. Weather not very friendly, thick fog and wind. Path a bit muddy, otherwise no issues. Although no views payoff, I really enjoyed the path adorned with quite some alpine flowers. nasmeh

Has anyone been to Crna Prst in these days - either from Bohinjska Bistrica, past Orožnova hut or from Podbrdo? Any snow yet, slippery, passable?

Hello Navdušena,
Today I went from Podbrdo to Crna Prst. I changed into winter gear at treeline, approx 1500m. Snowshoed to the saddle, then on foot to the hut. Crampons stayed in backpack today, but conditions can change fast with this weather, traverse from saddle to summit slippery dangerous. Two hikers ahead of me, snowing on summit.

Descended clumsily towards Orožnova hut. Descending in fog I messed up a bit, up there punishment immediate (100 squats, pulling legs from holes). You might get less enthusiastic following me blindly. Snowshoes very useful to Orožnova hut. North side snow much lower, down to 1000m. Good luck.

Hi.

Since I watched KSA for some days and additionally Krn on Sunday, unfortunately only from afar, I decided today to check that area from Kal village.

Conditions really good for hiking, except strong wind on top blowing some 200m below summit. Snow on path about half way in forest but granular providing good footing. Transitioning to meadows several switches from mud back to great snow, which on top iced over from wind.

For final ascent from sign good to have crampons due to hard crust.

Great trip today.

Regards Rok

Today from Raven across the plateau to Črna gora to the summit. Snow was frozen in the morning, no sinking even on the way back. Morning was more foggy, around noon it cleared up, so I also went to Kobla. Crna Prst you see from here completely from another perspective. The peak is incredibly panoramic. I descended via the ski slope, which proved to be the fastest descent, plus I had views of the Julians the whole way.

It was almost a summer day on Crna Prst today. The path from Kal village is dry and without peculiarities. Descent on the old path, on which villagers many years ago brought hay to Kal village. Otherwise nice, panoramic path is so steep that it throws you on your butt velik nasmeh literally nasmehnasmeh It was a nice day.

Hopeful ascent, descent on foot, few pics, still happy. Compared to the previous one, everything was upside down, only the path remained passable. More

From Bohinj side in the morning without crampons better not! From Primorska side probably no problem.

By car to the train station in Bohinjska Bistrica, then through the tunnel to Podbrdo by train and feet on the path.
At the start the path goes steep up then nicely through the forest. At the top a little snack then with winter gear to Orožnova hut on great ramps.
After refreshment down the slope to the "station" where a small shower catches us. Great tour with great transport and weather held.
From Gorenjska side winter gear obligatory.jezik

Yesterday I went to Crna Prst. I left the car near the former Menciger hut, which has been privately owned for a long time and is just named so. There are a couple parking spots around by the road. Soon turn left to the marked path to Crna Prst. Last year at the start of the season the path was closed due to landslide. Now it's open and you can nicely get above the slide. Then on steep path-slippery to the alpine pasture Za Liscem to Orožnova hut and across botanical path to Crna Prst. Botanical path is partly marked with flower signs. Locals are constantly placing them. At Crna Prst the hut is not officially open yet, but the caretaker is there and serves friendly. Officially opens with the race to Crna Prst around June 20. But since weather worsened drastically-thunder, clouds, fog, lightning, I headed to the valley. For return I chose descent via Osredki pasture, where I've never been. From hut along the ridge towards Rodica and soon sign directs down towards Lisce. Before Lisec ridge turn left on quite rocky path-well marked-to Osredki pasture. Pasture not pasture for long. Just two shepherd huts next to each other. Pasture not inviting at sight. From pasture down the path to road and from there on known path to car. Quite some flowers and more every day. Pics up in the afternoon.
Behind the former Menciger hut we turn left onto a nice pathlet. In between we cross the new forest road twice.1
Then we arrive at a nice forest road.2

Nice pics of the flowers too. Only didn't see the pink viper last Tuesday. I went from that side last year from Kal village.

Hello.

I'm interested if anyone has already hiked to Crna Prst from the section where the road leads to Soriska Planina?
Namely, yesterday, when I was returning from Bohinjska Bistrica, I saw signs for Orožnova Hut at two places a bit before Soriska Planina.
I'm curious if anyone has hiked from these turnoffs and how long the path is and how the markings are?
I plan to go from this turnoff to Planina za Liscem and then back over Planina Črna Gora and then by road back to the car.
Thanks for answers

I drove on the upper road, where there is a sign for Orožnova Hut. The road is marked and passable by car, about 7 km to the starting point for Pl. za Liscem.
The lower road must be a bit longer, which later joins this upper road.

If you returned from B.B. via Soriska Planina, you first hit the turnoff for Orožnova Hut 7 km from B.B. This road goes over Planina Strme.
The next turnoff for Orožnova Hut is good 2 km further towards Soriska Planina. Also on this road you reach the parking under Orožnova Hut after about 7 km.
Both roads join a bit above Planina Strme.
Definitely not a starting point for hiking, as walking on forest roads is rather sad. But with car you get quite high - from parking to hut about 40 min.

Another road comes from B. Bistrica lower to village Ravne. From there you can go on foot and you'll first reach the aforementioned upper road and then to Orožnova Hut.
If you plan a circular route over Pl. Za Liscem to Crna Prst and return over Planina za Črno Gora, you can't avoid walking (cca 2 km) on forest road of course. But 2 km is no big problem, right mežikanje
Good luck! nasmeh

Peter S.
