Hello,
Does anyone perhaps know what the path to Črna prst is like?
Probably no snow anymore?

From the southern side it's snow-free, at least as I saw from the main road.

On Sunday I was on ČP, past Orožnova koča. As -otiv- noted, there's still quite some snow under the wall. Snow is soft and three before me had made footsteps, but I continued anyway with "crampons in hands and ice axe on foot"jezik. Descended via the pasture behind Črna gora, snow patches there too.

Tomorrow repeat the same route...

The trail from Bohinjska Bistrica is snow-free, the botanical trail is also already set up, and Orožnova hut is open too.

Today, however, with Škofja Loka mountaineers to Crna Prst. We drove from Škofja Loka via Soriska Planina and before Bohinjska Bistrica turned onto gravel and drove to the starting point for planina pod Lisec and Crna Prst. This shortcut is known more to locals. A local Bohinj botanist led us along it and went with us to the hut. He founded this botanical trail. He told us lots of interesting things and explained about the flowers we saw along the trail. With Bohinj expert on Bohinj mountain flowers Mr. Strgar they also checked and put up signs with flower names on the botanical trail this year. At the hut he also showed us a rare find - some yellow flower, whose name I didn't note down. We went along local unmarked trail to the mountain hut under Lisec. Then of course along botanical trail to the top of Crna Prst. We returned via Planina Za Črno goro. But true, then we had to walk a bit to the car.

A rarer find is probably the alpine pasqueflower, which we always went to see on Planina Osredki, this year it appeared around Orožnova hut.
Shame I couldn't make it up today to say something.

Peter, yes it's alpine pasqueflower. Unfortunately that photo didn't come out right. Of course I don't have it in my album yet. But I'll come up for the alpine pasqueflower holiday you have there around Aug 1st when it blooms. Haven't seen it yet. The gentleman showed us where it blooms.

Today to Crna Prst from Podbrdo.
First I planned to continue to Rodica, but clouds gathering around the peaks discouraged me from continuing.
I descended to Bohinjska Bistrica behind Črna gora.
Lots of visitors, flowers less diverse than a year ago at this time. Maybe I'm still under impression of blooming carpets from Rodica few days ago, hard to compare.

Yesterday we wanted to visit our home (house) mountain again.
We ascended via planina za Črno goro. We looked at one of the sites of alpine pasqueflower and sadly found that drought and heat didn't spare it, so all specimens were without those wonderful colors, quite faded.
Flowers also on the top of Crna Prst not many anymore. There were quite a few visitors though, of course because of the holiday.
Back we went via planina za Lisec. On the botanical trail we picked up all the signs with flower names and stored them in the hut. Then in pleasant company in the hut spent a nice part of the afternoon nasmeh

Today I went to Crna Prst again. Of course I went with the aim to find alpine pasqueflower and I did find it. No trail leads to the site. I searched for a whole hour.
This time on Črna prst I am not looking for unknown paths. I leave the car at the former Menciger hut and go up the marked path.1

Typical view of Črna prst.4
This view is a bit friendlier.5
First I climb the neighboring hill and explore it botanically - this is the border stone at the top - Rapallo border between Italy and the Kingdom of Yugoslavia.6
Paragliders have their day too.7

Where is Triglav?9
Here.10
Now to explore Lisca. Here I go down.11
At the bottom I encounter similar rocks as on Črna prst.12
Now to explore the extensive hayfields of Lisca. No path leads up. Searching is strenuous, dangerous and demanding.13
Finally I find the habitat. Due to its endangerment, let the habitat remain a secret. Experts of Črna prst - botanists surely know about it. From today there is one more expert.14
It was in full bloom.15
Flower of the alpine pasqueflower up close - beautiful.16

Brane, we weren't far from each other. Maybe I'm wrong, but I saw alpine pasqueflower also on Porezen last year, right near home is the site.
Nice regards!nasmeh

Hello

on Saturday I'd like to climb Crna Prst from the J. Mencinger home, and I ask for some info on path conditions, if anyone went up there in the last days.

Thanks

Today on Crna Prst from Podbrdo. Path dry, only towards the top some small sun-softened snow patches. On the path from the saddle to the hut snow mostly hard to icy. Returned past Orožnova hut on Planina Za Liscem to Bohinjska Bistrica. While on the Primorska side it was real spring, on the Bohinj side winter ruled. Due to frozen snow on the saddle, started descent with crampons, but snow was soft right away, with deep predecessor footprints in it (towards pl. Za Črno goro not trampled). After the steepest part continued with snowshoes, which were useful this time, only when crossing small frozen sections where the track was lost crampons would have been better due to steepness. Otherwise snow different every step. From dry and soft to frozen. To Orožnova hut snow up to 1 m, nicely snow-covered further to the road, on which there was about 10 cm snow, just enough for snowshoes. When the path from the road started descending through the forest, snow ended quickly.

Nice sunny ascent in pleasant warm weather cooled quickly by strong wind on the top. On the Bohinj side the whole path was in shade due to low sun. No frost, because snowshoeing warmed me quickly, views delighted by sun-glistening Triglav and neighbors.
