Hut keepers

Well, about how different people can have different opinions about hutkeepers, I myself can tell, because I worked as an assistant. Sometimes it's really like that, head full of everything, everyone jumping on your head and maybe hutkeepers behave completely inappropriately towards guests. After a couple of days it passes and everything is oknasmeh after all we're human, there are good and bad days. Of course I'm of the opinion that in the mountains pleasant, obliging, cheerful hutkeepers must work.

As a lover of mountains and regular visitor of mountain huts, I wonder why in this year so many mountaineering societies decided to change hutkeepers? What is the reason?

So what if it is?
-contract expiration
-termination of keeper/tenant
-health reasons
-dissatisfaction of hikers and mountaineers
-different hut management
And some other cause.
Most mountain huts are in mid-mountains. Conditions here are totally different from high mountains. In mid-mountains practically no overnights so no dinner, breakfast or chat in good company over a glass of local red. Day guests are more and more budget-minded.
See, devil always hides in small bottles.

If you're willing to work just for lunch and a drink, I invite you in the nice spring days to come to help clean the forest tracks so that both those on gasoline and those on spirits can drive on them.
Welcome.

Majer, just a few days ago I talked with one of the keepers, now former. To my question why no more keeper, he listed among the main reasons big levies: SP must have more frequent inspections, high fines follow, and constant rent increases by PD; hiker overnights at least in mid-mountains less and less! At the end of our talk he added: worked with heart and great joy but can't live from that.

On PZS site new calls for hut keepers published again. For Kum sad, just when offer gets a bit in order, keepers change. Don't know elsewhere (Staničev dom, Prešernova koča). Seems in this country everything goes like dominoes into ...

As far as I'm informed about this topic, a tender is needed for renting a hut (keeper) if no one has a contract for the current season. Most of them have it rented for one year and a public tender must be issued every year. Sometimes it was done internally. Apparently this year many keepers' rental contracts have expired.

Gregor: apparently you're not very well informed about this topic, a tender for the keeper is needed only if the keeper changes, when extending the contract no tender is needed!

Here I would like to praise the keeper Olga, who took very good care of 4 hikers who stayed overnight there from 17.7./18.7.2014.
We were very pleasantly surprised by the hospitality, order and cleanliness on site, and knowledge about the surroundings and the history of the Hutter hut itself.
If you're passing by this hut in these days, stop in and convince yourself of the friendliness and cuisine that Mrs. Olga offers. Nice, authentic and simple. nasmeh

Hut at Savica:

At 8 a.m. the hut was closed, in front of it some Germans, Austrians who, according to the conversation, are waiting for tea and info on further paths.
Inside the hut it was dark, the morning silence was sharply cut by music from it.
Whether they overslept or no one was there or the day before too much fun zavijanje z očmi
Anyway - black mark!

Yesterday at Gomišček shelter experienced a comic situation. A couple sitting outside apparently went to order stew. The keeper comes out and says to them: "I have it ready, but we don't serve outside". The woman looks for a while and can't believe it, then goes inside and brings it out herself, what the keeper could have done already before since he came out to call. velik nasmeh What kind of culture is this and I got the feeling you have to bow to the keeper and be happy to get anything at all. There were maybe 10 people.

Of course after seeing that attitude I didn't leave them even 1 EUR.

At Zwickauer hutte upon arrival I joined the keepers' lunch and asked if anything was left for one portion. Already sitting at the food, boss Heinz stood up and brought me out the last portion of rice with meat potato curry sauce. I thanked him myself and apologized at the same time. He said benevolently - No problem.
