So that there aren't only complaints about mountain huts, this time I'll praise the staff working in the hut at Kokrško sedlo.
Yesterday on the way from Kokrško sedlo to Grintovec an unpleasant thing happened to me when the sole came off my shoe. I returned to the hut where the extremely friendly hut keeper lent me his granddaughter's shoes so I could summit and safely return to the valley. Here I would like to thank him once again for the exceptional friendliness and helpfulness. Praise also for the cook and good food. :

I'll continue with praise too. A couple of weeks ago when we went on a trip to Uršlja, the keeper was very friendly, we had a nice chat. Outside they served us good coffee and cold beer - what more could you want

Let me add my praise too. Last week we were at Roblek and Vel Polje, in both huts great service and very friendly keepers. Good luck and many friendly encounters to you.

20.7.2014 Post Office Hut at Vršič:
so-called "mushroom soup" terribly crap (6eu); buckwheat mush for 3xserving(3.50eu)otherwise not bad, but portion too small even for kids. Recommendation: avoid them.Due to quality, prices and desperate slowness.

Is the keeper still that older very talkative Prekmurec guy? I don't know, maybe they're not the fastest, but as for food quality, I've had good experiences with them.

I can only praise the Post Office Hut at Vršič. Always everything ok. True, I haven't been up there yet this year.

Since there's debate about huts around Vršič.
On Thursday my friend and I stopped at the new hut by the road to Vršič, at TONKA'S HUT....it was super...good service, great atmosphere, excellent food simply worth revisiting.....in the kitchen lady Tonka, probably known to many, as former keeper at Kriška gora and cook at Valvasor hut under Stol.

Maybe we could really once praise good huts for a change so we know where to go and where not to go one such is Planinc hut PD Vuzenica on the meadow under Mala Kopa

Probably everyone will like the Čemšeniška planina, they have good kitchen which can't be said for neighboring Zasavska gora, there just pass by, you'll miss nothing. Good also at Bibi and Menina planina.

Where is this hut? If Tonka is there, it's surely good!
If I remember right, the supply path starts right under Vršič at Mihov dom.
If anyone is interested who Tonka is, you can watch the film "On the way to Kriška gora" in the RTVSLO.SI archive. It was on 13.10.2013.

Interesting how Slovenes fear any criticism and avoid it like the devil avoids the cross. Although criticism is not for ego trip, but more to avoid problems before we run into them. We need both - to know where good huts are and where bad ones (and especially why).
My 5 cents; must praise the hut under Storžič, lady keeper friendly, food super, overall hut as it should be.
Must bash the hut at Predel though, where even though it wasn't crowded, we waited 15 min for shitty coffee. But no panic. I used to work in a hut and know sometimes it's chaotic and they can't reach all guests, so I went straight to the counter to order there and carry to the table myself. Waited there another ca. 10 min and instead of anything else, got growling from the landlady that I should wait to be served and what do Ljubljana shirts (really don't know where she got that I'm from Ljubljana, obviously every newcomer to those parts automatically treated as a yuppie???) think we have to be first everywhere.

I think the location that uncle google marks here is from Kekčeva dežela. Especially because it's written from the hut to Vršič summit 1/2 hour. So I browsed a bit more and google maps threw out a location somewhere halfway between Koča na gozdu and Erjavčeva koča. Based on time to the summit, the previous one is it.

200 m towards Vršič from the viewpoint by the road, from where you can nicely see Prisojnik's front window and Ajdovska girl....yeah there is Tonkina koča....previously the hut was owned by CPK, now Tonka is the main one

Tonkina koča is between the 16th and 17th bend on the road to Vršič. The food is very good, Tonka is Tonka anyway.

I would praise the team at Sedmerih jezerih and at Prehodavcih. At both huts I had a really pleasant feeling that you are not a burden to them. It is always nice at Komna too.

In June I went to Porezen from Petrovo Brdo. As a beginner full of questions and eager for information. Such friendliness as I experienced at the mountain hut Petrovo Brdo and Dom na Poreznu I haven't encountered yet. Praise and thanks
