Hello, I'm wondering if it's already possible to go from Kamnik Saddle to the Okrešlj Hut without ice axe and crampons? Thanks for the answer and best regards

I'm interested too,, but I think yes, 'cause temps are high and I think no snow left there, not much anyway

Usually under the wall there's a snow patch and it hinders access.

14 days ago I went from Okrešlj towards Kamnik saddle, but (when you reach wall-start of chain) on path ice impassable - not even with crampons, so after 14 days don't think much better... if someone hiking around there let know conditions... be careful

On Friday going from Okrešlj - Kamn.saddle - Brana - Turska gora, on to Skuta, then other side past bivouac to Kokrsko saddle and further Kamn.Bistrica - circular route, there someone picks us up. 1 person could still join, prob paid.

Is there still any snow from Planjava towards Kamnik Saddle?

End of week I'd go towards Kamnik Saddle from Kamnik side. Since I don't know this area I'm curious what the road from Dom in Kamniška Bistrica to Jermanca is like, or how much time I'd save that way (elevation diff approx 300m)? Or is it smarter to park at the hut? Thanks for answer.

If the goal is Kamnik Saddle, then even from home it won't be too hard...

janez.novak: Road to Jermanca is ok, just last kilometer more impassable (potholed road). You save about half an hour if you're more of the "fast" sort, or a solid hour if slower.

You save half an hour if you're normal sort. If you also count the time to drive from home by car to Jermanca, then it reduces to about 20 minutes (cca under 10 min drive). If going only to saddle I recommend whole path, won't be too big bite. And you walk under gallery too, which is nice. If you drive to Jermanca you'll miss also lower station of cableway to K. saddle, worth "seeing". If going higher (Brana and Planjava) then maybe worth thinking about shortening access. And warning. Driving to Jermanca prohibited by traffic sign. About actual state some other time.

Sign now moved to intersection at last house in K.B., because before owner was in violation if he drove home by car.

Thanks for answers. And one more question: is path from Kamnik Saddle to Brana or Planjava bare, or winter gear needed?

Bravo Redbull and thanks for that info. I also plan this crossing from Logarska dolina to Kranj, across our Alps next week.

I'm wondering about the conditions beyond Kamnik Saddle towards Turska gora, does anyone know? Well, actually I'm interested if it's possible to get up there without winter gear? Hey, a sunny weekend is coming up!!!

Read Redbull's previous comment - apparently ice axe needed under the kotliči! Good luck!

Thanks, I'm just getting to know the Kamniks, so I didn't exactly know what things mean. We'll go just to the saddle for now or to the snow and then turn back.

Weather today wasn't the nicest so we decided Brana remains unconquered goal today. Despite that the trip was nice as Kamnik Saddle is full of flowers at this time.
