10m avalanche is more than enough. On the service road to Zelenica there's such a case: a short avalanche on a groomed road took several people.

Similar on Vogel. So stay away from any, even small ones.

Hi, can you still drive to Jermanca by car? Is the path trodden? Are crampons needed?

Ruts to Jermanca are quite deep, so it depends on the car. Lp

). At the same time he says you can feel harder snow around 40cm deep and it's questionable how well bonded it all is. So there's avalanche danger, especially if it warms up, if I'm interpreting his note right.

I haven't been to this popular excursion spot this year yet, so this morning I stepped up the hill all the more gladly. To avoid icy annoyances, I park right at the bottom velik nasmeh

. To the cable car, and a bit above it, it was dry, although rocks and roots were icy, so walking was really unpleasant. Higher up there was snow on the path, I put on crampons at Pastirci. I already thought they'd be a nuisance, but on the last slope they're almost mandatory. Above Kamrca the older snow is like concrete, on it 15 to 40 cm of new snow, which is not yet well bonded to the base, but avalanche chance is minimal. But remnants of them right below Pastirci are really gigantic. Nice weather, not too much visit, but Velka was probably record again, the parking below the cable car was occupied to the last corner on my return.

The candles will melt, smoke will come from the chimney, the virus will be defeated...

...which, together with rain and thaw on a steep slope, causes disaster.

At Velika planina - at least via Dol planina - this morning there wasn't too much of a crowd. Probably most cars were from skiers, as there were quite a few queues before testing and the lift. Velika planina is one of the few options for skiing in the central Slovenian region.

Even before leaving home different plans, but Dušan wants to go to Kamniško sedlo. Without hesitation we pike up. Thermos of hot tea, warmest jacket, heaping dose of good mood and we're already at Pastirci. We meet a skier heading somewhere under Planjava and watch alpinists in Bosova grapa. When the steep part starts, the thickness of new snow increases right away, at first a few steps on top, then 'pikanje' starts nasmeh

I admit I really enjoyed it right to the top, as I knew I could wade more than these scant 400 m of elevation gain, and the sun was shining strongly. Let me say, some trouble and slip risk only in the part where the slope breaks towards the hut, there is less new snow, under it concrete.
At the goal I first dig out the concreted door of the winter room, with this work I really warmed up thoroughly. velik nasmeh

Changing and snack, and without backpack with camera to the top of the saddle. Instead of fog lingering just below the saddle, cold that was plenty at Jermance, and forecasted wind --- pure sunny bliss. Unbelievable. I photographed every hill twice, then with phone - without gloves. We barely decided to descend to the hut.
On descent we met three more pikači, so the track is secured.

Road to Jermance (almost) normally drivable, at least for higher cars. There it was 8 degrees already in the morning. At the path start need to cross 2 snow drifts, nothing harder. From 1200m onwards the path is under snow, at Pastirci we put on crampons. Further it goes nicely, but lots of snow and it sinks more and more, so the path is more strenuous. Summer temperatures, we're in short sleeves at the saddle, weather gorgeous. If such temperatures continue the path will be harder, as there's still lots of snow … anyway great day nasmeh

Today 7.3.2021 to Kamnik Saddle from in front of the Hut in Kamniška Bistrica to check the conditions a bit.
The path is dry up to 1200 m where light snow starts, further from the shepherds' huts there is still a huge amount of snow, but it is hard and quite frozen/icy.

As soon as the path from Kamniška Bistrica joins the path from Jermanca, it crosses all three avalanche deposits under Brana. On the Kaptanski plaz there is really a lot of snow and you have to step carefully across.

What surprised me most was the exceptional avalanche deposit that moved from Bosova gully down towards V klin, right next to the path to Pastirci. To me the deposit seems a real monster, especially since I didn't expect it there on such a scale. If anyone knows where the release area of this avalanche could be, I'd be glad for the info. I was looking at the ridge of Brana and up towards Pastirci, but it's not clear to me where this avalanche could get such an amount of snow.

Also under Macesnovec, before reaching Pastirci, there are quite a few avalanche deposits. This year's avalanche conditions really showed that in unfavorable conditions, the path to Pastirci alone can be quite dangerous in winter.

From Pastirci onwards with crampons to the top on packed snow. Some cracks are still visible on the scree, but it's a question if it will release there if similar conditions persist. At the top it was sunny, practically no wind and very warm.
