Yesterday I wandered around the southern slopes of Rodica starting from Grantarski gozd. First through Runža gully (blue) directly to the summit where I catch the sunrise, descent along the marked path back to the start of the gully. Now I decide for Central gully (green) and soon along the ridge back to Rodica. In the gullies there were some dry jumps at the beginning, later creaky snow to the top spiced with some slabs. Back along the marked path and due to the early hour also to Ratitovec, where I catch a real snow shower.

The starting point for these two gullies is the first snowfield visible. The nicely snow-covered line to the right is Sestopna grapa

The continuation is always nicer, only a little more slope is missing

On 18.5 in the morning I took the cable car from Bohinj to Rjava skala with a lump in my stomach. The sky was completely overcast with clouds.

First I continued in the fog towards Šija, from there across nice dry terrain towards Rodica. That's how it is in the mountains, I've gotten used to it. Only at the top of Rodica did the sky open towards the south.

Just a few hours and what a difference!

I descended to the village of Rut, then to Grant and continued through the villages Stržišče and Kal and then to Podbrdo.

Again necessary disconnection from everyday life and escape from the heat-blowing valley basin to somewhat cooler heights; this time to the Bohinj end, towards Lower Bohinj Mountains – to the still unfaded memory of the magical peak of 1966m Rodica. Last year from the Tolmin side, this time from the Bohinj one - Laški Rovt or Javor (the latter nicer to me). Well, without need even a shoe doesn't get put on, but had to bite into the knees properly again – to planina Suha steeply along the shady forest path by the torrent deposit, then along the gravelly steep pathlet through dwarf pines, with beautiful views under the sunny walls, to the ridge Čez Suho, from there on… oh, a real fairy tale, along beautiful green-flowering ridges, among countless gentians, wandering up and down the ridglets, to the top, in the last part steeply-gravelly, characteristic pyramidal Rodica; for someone a small "snack" for others breath-taking dose of adrenaline on the top pays off everything, when spread infinite horizons reveal wide views like on a panorama, to all three of our mountain firsts in one – Grintovec, Stol and our Father Triglav, under feet the blue-green shine of Bohinj Lake; when, in the heat-hazy summer blue, the view enchantingly embraces sunny slopes of Bohinj Mountains, almost the entire chain of Julians, Karavanks and part of Savinja Alps, with views into the depths it swims to both valleys and idyllic Tolmin pastures Lom and Kuk even to the sea. We sucked the poured cup of mountain intoxication to the last drop nasmeh

Pohodnica53,

so nicely written and photographed that I went up yesterday, namely from "below", from the lake. The intoxication lasted longer because of that, the views were less distant, I was afraid of the cows on planina Suha as always, but it was worth the effort, because only from the Bohinj side I hadn't been to the top and on the flowering slopes of this beautiful mountain yet.

Rodica from Rut. Not much snow, I don't know how much, but the path is icy. From the saddle and on the top ice-cold wind, otherwise clear without a cloud. Crampons and ice axe - mandatory gear. What can I say, great day nasmeh

While walking on Korada I also caught the balloon that PrimozA saw on 24.1.2016 (picture 2). Had to zoom in quite a bit to figure out what the black dot above the ridge of Lower Bohinj Mountains is.

Today with an acquaintance from teen days and later classmate from security faculty we visited the queen of Bohinj mountains. To Leskova valley by car to ~1000m, then skis across snowy terrace to Pl. Suhe, still ~180cm snow there. Continued procession directly through gully, 20m on foot. Higher to summit snow slightly refrozen, sun broke through fog. On top colorful skiers crowd and bordercross group. Some Tk gore reps, recognized only Maret by name who started from Vogel with buddy. Summit ridge now only 60-70cm snow, lasts till mid-month. No real Rodica experts today, almost all chose direct descent via less ski-friendly gully. We also per Marko's tip descended towards Suhe saddle and from there "surfed" untouched flanks to Pl Suhe. Fantastic ski on spring crust, cooler it'd be perfect 10 jezik
