I have a similar tour in mind too, just in the opposite direction, and I would extend it to Plaski Vogel Excellent!

@sla: if sleeping in winter conditions is not a problem for you, now is the time for such a tour. Solitude, no one around, real autumn colors, and unique views. Hurry before the snow, you won't regret it ...

At Prehodavci definitely not, and at Triglav Lakes I'm not sure, since I haven't been inside. From the pictures, no chimney visible, but I won't claim there isn't one. Maybe someone else knows if there is or not .... Sorry

Conditions are wintery everywhere and highly variable. You need to go to the mountains with full winter gear, how and where to go everyone plans according to their abilities, since instant info on a platter for every tour individually can't be obtained.

Of course that's clear to me, that conditions are wintery and crampons are necessary (as well as other gear). But asking if someone has already been there, I think that's not a sin.

There skis or snowshoes will be more useful than crampons ...

Velebit, there is no stove in the bivouac next to the hut at the 7 lakes! Besides a good sleeping bag, a thick snow blanket that covers the building helps a bit, and inside a carefully used candle is useful too. It's cold there in winter days, but it's nice!

As far as I know, practically none of the winter rooms in Slovenian huts have a stove. The reason isn't that it's impossible to install one, but mainly that caretakers, especially in easier access huts, prefer only hikers and skiers who just want to spend the night stay there, rather than people making parties up there. Because without a stove it's really not that pleasant.

How is access in winter months to the hut at the lakes? Would go on Saturday?

Fastest is still over Komarča, especially if you don't have aids for increasing buoyancy. Given location and weather last month, snow probably only at the top, before Black Lake.

Was on Komna over the weekend, little snow on Komarča, but in Lopuška valley without skis not sure it'll go if path not trodden. On Komna ca. a meter of snow that sinks off the path, and above Black Lake surely same conditions. Good luck...

Yesterday at Triglav Lakes from hut at Savica over Komarča. Sadly, larger part of the path lightly soaked us with drizzle. We hoped to reach the snow line as soon as possible, but it waited for us only a bit below Triglav Lakes. It seemed to us as if the snow line was receding with gaining height. Snow starts at the top of Komarča. The path is trodden, still snowshoes recommended. In the winter room we refreshed ourselves and changed wet clothes and continued to Komna. Since midway to Dom na Komni we saw we wouldn't make it before dark, we turned off-trail to Black Lake, joined the path over Komarča there and descended to the start.

Has anyone been to the seven lakes these days? I'm interested if anything is trodden to the winter room at Prehodavci and what the path over Komarča is like after ice? Thanks for any replies.

From the logbook at Dom na Komni up to 12.3.3014 some ski tourers went to Seven Lakes and two to Prehodavci. I myself planned to go to Seven Lakes, but changed my mind and went over Konjsko sedlo to Ukanc. Without snowshoes then it wasn't possible. Since these are two weeks old info, best to call Dom na Komni.

Was yesterday to Black Lake. Path over Komarča is ok, but only from first protections onwards, before that one section very mixed. About 15 min from start huge snow mixed with fallen trees and rocks, path basically gone there, later some spots with lots of fallen trees over path. From approx first protections, it gets better with each step. But another danger: chamois, never seen so many in Komarča, they trigger rocks, once very close and helmet wouldn't have helped (had it). Later from top of Komarča in three steps from almost summer deep into winter. No tracks except animal ones, around 10:30 no sinking, only at lake the land-water border is somewhere under snow - careful. Path in lower part needs thorough clearing. To those who don't know the path, currently advise against using it.
