Via Žirovnica only one section avalanche risk.... Via Zabreška almost no avalanche possibilities...

Yes, @klinchy, that possibility under Prižnica is quite OK. It can more than suffice..

Will wait till tomorrow and check how much snow fell. So Zabreška path basically suitable also for snow. Thanks, LP

Yesterday I was on Roblek and there was 70cm of snow....this means that on Stol you'll need to break trail, or it'll be luck if someone has already packed it before. Or you need to wait for the snow to settle a bit. It's true that both paths are suitable, but when avalanche danger is high (4 partly or 5) I'd rather recommend the Zabreška path

I think recommending a path at possible 4th or 5th danger level is inappropriate and irresponsible. Both paths to Stol are in potential avalanche areas. See Manca Volk's article in PV no. 12/2006, where she states that on Stol's slope from Valvasorjev dom to Tinčkova koča there are 12 avalanches, and Pavel Šegula's article in PV no. 12/1984 about the avalanche under Stol. Safe trip - in a couple of days.

Mrki and klinchy, thanks for the warning.. It means that I'll nicely warm up at home this weekend, while next one maybe on some ascent.. thanks again..

I also stayed home. I read that up to 70cm of snow can fall. I'm surprised that it's only danger level 1. I hope for nice weather next weekend. Best regards

I'm interested if anyone has been up recently and if the trail is broken.

Actually I wanted to ask about the conditions, but I had promised not to. So, has anyone been and what are the conditions?

I reckon we'll go with my buddy tomorrow from Valvasor up. Probably the path is packed, plus I think there's not much snow left anymore. Hope so Best

Yeah from Radovljica you can see that there's really not much left of it

Well, then, if you're up for it tomorrow, let us know and report back.

yeah really this picture opened up for us this morning.. but good to know that where snow is seen there's quite a decent amount -to knees and over. That's how it is with this Stol; sometimes just-right snow depth for snowshoes -between the two Stols up to waist and over,...or not.. And what's left on the path is by no means negligible. It'll do. I just want to say that what's seen on the picture aren't exactly dry conditions..

So, will anyone go up this weekend? What's the state like? I'm deciding to conquer it on Monday, Tuesday..
