Successful trip to Vrtača and Stol despite the heat!

With a friend yesterday on Stol. On the return it was already hot enough.

Stol. Start from Trat. Up climbing route, past Celovška koča down. Climbing part super, return path to valley to cry for. Endless scree! Expected crowd, but we were alone to the top. Austrians don't skimp on paint for markings, useful but not pretty. Summit views let you see Triglav! Nice!

Today first time on Stol. From Valvasor started around 5am, via Zirovniska path.
Gotta admit, after comments read here and there, expected harder steeper ascent, but not at all, seemed pleasant hike. Took 3hrs to top. Returned same Zirovniska but don't recommend, rocks stones already wet slippery, knees hurt bad. Two hrs for descent.

Morning gorgeous, nothing better watching morning wake and turn to day. Pity later up fog or clouds.

For the descent, the Zabreška path is much more friendly, although it drags a bit.

I agree, for down Zabreska much more "friendly", especially when in the forest. Drags a bit more though.

We planned down via Zabreska but didn't know exactly where so went via Zirovnica.
Would have managed somehow if rocks weren't wet velik nasmeh

On a nice cool morning we went to Stol - up Žirovniška gora, down Zabreški dol. View wasn't best, only nearest peaks visible. But anyway a day in hills always well spent nasmeh

Basically, I explained to her where I had already launched from Ovčji vrh, and she explained to me where it flies best around Ovčji vrh.

Some hikers go up the hill like sheep. :D

There were mists everywhere else, but it was still very beautiful. Like an artistic picture ... Vrtača and Begunjščica, with the Košuta ridge disappearing into the mist in the middle back.

Along the Zabreška path. Suddenly there were thousands of them ... literally!

On Friday and Saturday, 7.-8.08., I walked the path from Žirovnica past Valvasor to Stol, where I stayed overnight.
Second day: Stol-Vajnež-hut on Golica-Rožca-Hruški vrh-Dovška Baba-Dovje.

On Saturday, a nice loop to Stol. Start from Trate, up the climbing path to Stol, return the other side, also to Svačica past Celovška hut to start. The path is very well secured but quite exposed. Nice greeting

On the last hot summer day we wanted to use it well, so besides the very-early-morning ascent and flight at sunrise from the top of Stol we did a late-afternoon trip up and flight at sunset down...

Yesterday morning still completely dark, first at Trate start. Then classic: up climbing to Stol, descent over Belščica saddle past Celovška hut to start. Path no specials, only descent to cirque really tiring, needs caution.

Yesterday I ascended to Stol. To the summit via Zabreška planina, descended via Doslovška planina.

The last day before the forecasted deterioration and cooling we used for visiting Stol. We had a wonderful day and conditions, Stol quite a lot of visitors. More in photos.

Today on Stol from Zavrsnica... to Valvasor "highway", but hard and partly icy, the same further to Priznica. Further in the scree more snow, but dry, the last part mostly blown off, so we go most of the way on rocks. As for winter gear, it's that time when we must have it with us, then as needed... jezik
