Gonžarica is not in the protected mountain world, but I'm just guessing. Over Dimnike!?

Equipped paths in Slovenia are already way too many! And wasn't it decided that no new paths are opened anymore? They probably miss via ferratas, but there are enough in two neighboring countries. Why destroy our mountain world too, which is known precisely because it's not so touristically "processed"? That ridge over Dimnike and Luknja peč is so beautiful, it would really be a sin to desecrate it!

Let me join this "virtual" debate too. First, I think the dilemma is pretty pointless because two huts are rarely at the same location. And if not, you take the one whose location suits you better, not look at the menu. But if they really are at the same spot (yes, in Dolomites there are such cases), then I'd go where I get a bed. And if beds everywhere, where it's cheaper. Well, if prices same too, heck, probably go where they offer more for the same money. I really don't know why I'd have to give up something available to me because of some moralizing.

Well, was at Dolga Njiva, mentioned a few pages back: I ask for the menu, he starts listing what they have. I go look inside, no price list or anything. And if they really don't give bills then... well it can really happen they charge one 14 EUR, another almost the same 7 EUR. If all true maybe ripe for inspection.

If my memory serves me right, ... about 2 years ago we commented on the staff attitude at Gospodična towards hikers, nothing particularly positive I heard, and then I wrote that I would go check Gospodična. Well, of course first to Trdinov vrh and to the hut at Miklavž, then back to Trdinov vrh and to Gospodična. True, the attitude towards hikers is a bit different than towards regulars, locals ... We sat at the table, nicely and diligently waiting ... then my companion asks if they serve at tables, yes - the lady's answer, after a while she comes and we can order. She left the table as it was, full of plates and glasses. Coincidentally a lady passed by, noticed it and cleared the table. Next: "Paying, please!" She passed us three times, then we started getting dressed and went to pay at the counter, and there was no crowd then. I won't comment on food quality, I saw the menu, it could be quite tasty,... regarding service we took away a rather bad impression. LP!

Another experience, this time from Koča v Kamniški Bistrici. I sit at the table and glance at the menu. Among about 30 dishes I pick something. "Ohh, we don't have that!" Then I pick something else. "We don't have that either! You know, we only have this, this and this", points to three or four dishes out of all ca. 30-40. Well, why such an extensive menu then? From those three or four dishes I pick goulash. Brings it to me, and bread alongside. Then I ask for the bill. Brings it and - charges me for the bread too even though I didn't order it. "Wait, wait, you gave it to me alongside without me ordering. You didn't even ask. That should be free then." "Not like that here!", he replies. I say I won't pay for the bread. "Fine, then I'll pay for it!", he retorts. Yeah, sure, I can imagine how he paid for it. He just canceled it at the cash register. One didn't let himself be tricked, the next ten will fall for it again. He just slips bread to everyone and it works if it works. It's a pity that this happens in the mountains (for me it's no problem to say no), if it already happens in everyday life. Just like last time at Petrol at Lom: I want to buy a burek and the seller says if I'd like yogurt alongside the raw one. I say no thanks. "But the yogurt will cost you less! It's on sale." I thank him nicely again. Then I look at which burek and in the end I decide for the raw one. "So no yogurt then?" he asks again, already visibly impatient, as if it were self-evident that I'd take the yogurt too. I nearly told him to stick that yogurt somewhere, but I bit my tongue and just firmly said "No". But you have to be decisive and it must get into your blood. If he had succeeded in pushing that yogurt on me, he wouldn't care at all that I didn't need it and would have to throw it away (although I don't throw away food) or give it to someone – the important thing is that he earned. As if I were there because of him and not the other way around. Soon we can expect that in huts with purchases they will start offering LOTO tickets too. Don't laugh, they've already tried to push them on me twice at Petrol.

That's how it is when people focus only on dry rational material gain things and nothing on the heart, emotional, personal level, which alone gives a person satisfaction and brings happiness. I go to Petrol to buy a vignette and in between he distracts me whether I need a scraper too, which he's already showing me in his hand. I told him that I'd handle the matter myself without help. Heh, I easily removed the old vignette sticker just with an ice scraper.

Apparently they are looking for a new keeper of the Dom na Okrešlju, about time!

For years I come with the team to Okrešelj, several times a year. Mostly in winter months when there's no rush and the atmosphere is more family-like. Beli is a legend, pity if he quit. I don't know the reasons why he won't be the warden anymore, but Okrešelj is the only spot that has remained so friendly, not like the other huts in the Julijci and elsewhere where it's just business and interest. I hope it stays that way with the new warden.

Nicely written "pzlatar", not the usual mudslinging... of SLOVENE HUT KEEPERS...! Thank God there are some differences among them, now think about it!! Nice regards and safe steps to all!

I hope the old keeper takes that little annoying bitch that harasses guests with him. If so I'll stop by again when I pass there.

The doggie and the keeper at Okrešelj are really friendly, I don't know why animals get on some people's nerves so much,....

Yes sir VanSims! Nothing is right for you, at the house by Gospođica on Gorjanci you have to wait long for food, at Okrešelj the dog bothers you,.... Best to stop mountaineering, then you'll have peace at home if no one gets on your nerves . I must say I never had problems with Beli, neither with the dog nor staff. But sometimes whiners like you put me in a bad mood. Look around a bit, the world doesn't revolve only around you. LP
