Hut keepers

I think this way of hut provisioning is very welcome for hut keepers and horse owners. It is also pleasant for the environment and fresher food more often.nasmehI've noticed several times at pl. Krstenica and Laz that they supplied like this...

I met today that "horse team" at Roblek... otherwise in the afternoon on top of Begunjščica ridge clouds (fog) here and there... hut open

It was fun reading this, thanks for the link.
Horses, or maybe even donkeys, I saw a lot of them in the mountains during the war, 20 years ago.
And not long ago also somewhere on the path to the Triglav Lakes.

updated data (with "live" phones) of open huts? maybe it would be worth to arrange this on this page? (right now relevant). The official PZS site is not 100% reliable for this...

On Saturday we stayed overnight at Klemenča Jama under Ojstrica. The hut is SUPER - rooms clean and homely, beds comfortable and wide, food tasty, keepers funny and very friendly. All praise from my side and keep it up. I really recommend!

Hi! I'm interested in what conditions are like along Kopinškova to Ojstrica - snowfield under the summit - do you need crampons and ice axe?
Regards

I myself didn't go to Ojstrica via Kopinškova over the weekend but from Robanov kot, but I was on Krofička on Sunday, from where you can see the snowfield under Ojstrica summit is still quite large. I also talked to two who went exactly on Sunday via Kopinškova and confirmed it's recommended to have ice axe or at least poles with you.

Last year we went via Kopinškova early October, and that part was already frozen, that snowfield usually holds long, even into July if lots of snow ... if you dare only with poles you have in backpack anyway ... well that's it.

not exactly a hut but mountain pasture - Korošica under "Baba" (almost two-thousander), opposite Begunjščica (Ljubelj). Keepers there for years. Friendly.

My son and I felt as welcome today in the Orožnova hut on Planina za Liscem and in the Dom Zorka Jelinčiča on Črni prsti as nowhere else in mountain huts, even though I have no bad experiences. Thanks!

Wait outside until evening..
we will assign rooms only then

my friends told me, who returned this weekend from Slovenian hills or rather from sleeping in two huts. Tired, they wanted to lie down already in the afternoon, but house rules say rooms must still be empty then... so they sat like forgotten (and waited) outside on friendly hard benches...

Well, I think this event is really something special ... why don't you say which hut, so the rest of us know where this is happening, where such ununderstanding hut keepers are.
The proverb says ... if you say A, also say B.

I experienced something similar about 20 years ago at Dolič. The hut keeper left us waiting until late evening in the dining room (not outside!), then 2 or 3 per mattress jezen. Something similar happened to me in our mountains only once more jezen, since then I'm an "instant" mountaineer mežikanje, even though I hike from dawn to dusk, that's start and end with headlamp. Or emergency bivy. Emergency so that TNP rangers don't chase you. If it's force majeure, it is nasmehvelik nasmeh

A day spent on Prisank and then deliberately to taste the lower Vršič huts. Coffee at Tičarjev dom. Always disappointed again, basically still an extremely bad tavern aimed at "bus slipper-wearers". (no derogatory intent!) Poštarski dom? Everything is clear upon arrival, when the keeper greets you with "the mountain is not crazy, the crazy one is ...". You still get honest cold beer (to simplify) lower down in the also touristy Koča na gozdu... and drink it on the lounger nasmeh Obviously it still holds that a (real) mountain hut must be at least an hour's good walk from the car...

Apartment in Portorož: sea view from balcony, wc, bathroom, kitchen, dining room, two bedrooms, AC.. 80 euros per day. Dom K.Juga in Lepena: room 4*4 with five beds.. and that's it - 80 euros per day. These were the prices last week in both cases for a 5-member family (3 kids under 10). Now, is one very cheap, or the other (considering what it offers) very expensive?

Can someone explain to me why such a price difference. For half liter multisole I paid 3 euros on Saturday at Kokrsko sedlo in Cojzova kočaeek and it already seemed quite a lot then. At Ratitovec in Krekova koča today 1.7 euros. True, Kokrsko sedlo is a bit higher, but drinks are brought to both huts by cargo cableway. I don't know if it's much longer to Cojzova koča to justify that much more.zmeden Obviously this is called free pricing. Otherwise I was satisfied with the rest and hospitality in both huts. nasmeh

Did you ask in Cojzova koča before how much it is and maybe even demand a receipt? There can be quite a big difference mežikanje

I think hut keepers set the prices themselves. If you think it's too expensive, no need to take it, but if you once took it and paid, then don't criticize. What you need, put money in backpack and carry yourself, then you'll be satisfied.

At Kredarica I drank Multi Solo, price 3€, regular water 0.5l 2.5€. In my opinion prices could be lower, because delivery doesn't cost that much transport for those half kg, which is 600% more than shop price of drink. Prices at our stations despite lower standard don't lag behind better off western countries, even lead them. Good thing that in mountains unlimited clear free water flows too.mežikanje
